I've got an AMD K6-2 500 MHz processor, MSI ms5169 mainboard with Alladin V Chipset, a 128MB cicero memory module, diamond viper V550 video card, and an 8MB hard drive. I need big help setting up my BIOS. Iv'e got it on failsafe right now, and not getting any problems except sluggish performance. WHen I set it to optimal (there are some changes I make to have my video card run) I get a registry error, and after windows so graciously "fixes" it for me, I am left with brand new registry, forcing me to reinstall all drivers and programs from scratch. I've tried almost every combination I can think of, but I'm losing patience quick (for the last three days I've had to reinstall windows twice a day). Does anybody out there know of this problem and how to fix it, or have any general ideas of how bios settings can affect the registry?
