Bios Help

I was messing with the memory conifuration in bios and must have screwed it up. I was messing with the CAS settings and now I get three beeps and the computer will not boot. It was working fine before this. I think I need to find a way to reload the bios but I'm having trouble understanding how to create a CD boot disk. I have the D945GPM MB. All help will be appreciated.

Have to tried manually clearing the CMOS on the motherboard? It should then go back to the factory default.

Doesn't look like a standard CMOS reset. It looks like you have to use the recovery setting (no jumper) and then have an ISO for the CD rom or a BIO for the floppy if you have a floppy drive.

It mentions the following:
Recovery BIOS Update [NT4078P.BIO] - A .BIO file to be used for BIOS recovery process, regardless of operating system. In the unlikely event that a BIOS update is interrupted, it is possible the BIOS may be left in an unusable state. Use the Recovery BIOS update to recovering from this condition. It requires a blank floppy diskette or CD.

It looks like the first two links for download let you create a a Bio or ISO file you can use.

Be certain you read all the info that the BIOS update requires. I am not familiar with this board so you need to read all that it requires. I am not 100% positive that the BIOS I linked to is your board. You need to double check.
See the warning below from the Intel page.

Warning: For boards that support Intel® Active Management Technology (D945GTP and D945GCZ), you must first update to BIOS version 1788 and then update from 1788 to the newer BIOS version, otherwise the update will fail.

Yeah I found these also. I don't have a floppy just DVD RW. I'm not sure how to make a bootable CD and the instructions just aren't real clear. I saw that easy cd creator has a utlity but again I don't have that program.

What is the jumper setting that you have on the motherboard using the link to the diagram? If it's 1-2 I wonder if moving it to jumpers 2-3 allow you to get to the BIOS to reset. This shouldn't hurt anything even if it doesn't work. Check the jumpers first before trying to make an ISO.

If you do in fact need to make a bios ISO, you need to make sure which BIOS you have and did you meet that warning at the top? i.e. is it really the NT4078P.BIO file you need? What burning program do you have?

I haven't tried it with that setting but I did remove the jumper. I'll try anything at this point.

Just found out my daughters laptop has a floppy drive and I have a floppy sitting in the junk bin. I'm going to throw it in my desktop and see if I can get it to work. Will post back in a bit. Thanks for the help.

I went ahead and tried the jumper in the maintenance setting like you suggested and that did the trick. I was able to get back into the memory portion and put it back to auto. Thanks for all the help.
