Hello,
Is the BIOS a ROM type? Read-only memory? True?
If the answer is yes then how we can go to the system setup with "del" key and change and save the settings in like boot order and the system clock.
I expect we can't change BIOS setting because ROM is read-only memory.

They have changed a lot hardware -wise since they first began. They are replaced by UEFI, but many people still just say BIOS.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/BIOS

The original IBM PC BIOS (and cassette BASIC) was stored on mask-programmed read-only memory (ROM) chips in sockets on the motherboard. ROMs could be replaced, but not altered, by users. To allow for updates, many compatible computers used re-programmable memory devices such as EPROM and later flash memory devices. According to Robert Braver, the president of the BIOS manufacturer Micro Firmware, Flash BIOS chips became common around 1995 because the electrically erasable PROM (EEPROM) chips are cheaper and easier to program than standard ultravioleterasable PROM (EPROM) chips. Flash chips are programmed (and re-programmed) in-circuit, while EPROM chips need to be removed from the motherboard for re-programming.[23] BIOS versions are upgraded to take advantage of newer versions of hardware and to correct bugs in previous revisions of BIOSes.

specifically, the BIOS chip is an EPROM (Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory) that has settings that can be changed or updated.

Not to be really picky, but

It is an EEPROM not an EPROM.

EPROM's require exposure to UV Light in order to erase them and EEPROM is done with electricity.

EPROM - (erasable programmable read-only memory) is a special type of PROM that can be erased by exposing it to ultraviolet light. Once it is erased, it can be reprogrammed.

EEPROM is similar to a PROM, but requires only electricity to be erased. EEPROM - (electrically erasable programmable read-only memory).

Both EPROMs and EEPROMs are non- volatile memory or it does not need a power source to retain the data.

The BIOS Settings are held in the CMOS Memory. The CMOS is a term that caught on for SRAM used to retain BIOS settings. The amount of SRAM (Static Random Access Memory) used to be very small so it wasn't really a memory system. SRAM is manufactured with CMOS technology. It requires power to retain the contents. It is volatile. It requires very little power so a battery is all that's required.

I knew I forgot something.
