BIOS kicks me out!

So I'm having the most frustrating time trying to figure this out. In all the years of using PCs this is by far the most odd thing I have ever encountered. Just like the thread title says when I get into the bios I just get kicked back out as if someone hit the exit button and just boots into Windows. What makes this even more odd is that the time it takes to kick me out of bios is totally random. It'll happen literally 1 second after I get into the bios and or sometimes longer than that. Even upon googling this odd problem doesn't bring up any results on searches. Has anyone heard of this problem and is there a fix for it? The very first thought that I wanted to try was another keyboard, but unfortunately the only other keyboard that I have is an older PS/2 keyboard that my board doesn't support.

I would try disconnecting all the non-essentials from the motherboard for troubleshooting (drives, etc).

I would try updating the BIOS if Asus has a Windows based application. I'm only a Gigabyte fan so I don't know about Asus.

Also try clearing CMOS via the motherboard jumper or button. I agree that another keyboard might be worth trying too.

thanks for the responses. Unfortunately I don't have another USB keyboard, the only thing I have are two PS/2 keyboards. Very frustrating to say the least because I actually had another USB keyboard that I threw away because I purchased a mechanical keyboard. If it is indeed the keyboard problem then that means I wasted 50 bucks on this mech keyboard. I'm going to have to purchase a cheap keyboard just to see if the keyboard I'm using now is indeed the problem or not. I'll let u guys know as soon as I can get my hands on a keyboard. Maybe I can borrow a friends.

EDIT: I did forget to mention, I do get an odd mouse behavior in the bios as the mouse cursor on the screen moves down about a half an inch every few seconds. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the bios issue I'm having now so just in case I switched mouses to see if this behavior still exist and unfortunately it still does. Does anyone think that I might have a possible PSU issue?

Speaking of that I am running an extremely old bios version right now v1206.

EDIT: What makes bios updating so scary tho in my situation is the constant getting booted out of bios. What if I update my bios and I get kicked out during the update process? Won't that brick my board?

Could. Does Asus have a windows utility? You shouldn't have to be in the bios to update it, but I am not sure what all they offer on your board.

Thanks for the help, I'll first try out another keyboard and if that doesn't work I really don't have another choice but to update the bios within Windows. Hopefully there is an app for it though.

I didn't pass it I saw it, that's why I said that if the USB keyboard idea doesn't work that I'll go ahead with the bios update within Windows. I probably should of quoted you during that statement. Sry about that. lol

EDIT: Okay added the quote. =p

Yeah, I whould see if you can update BIOS through Windows. I heard people have trouble that way, but I have done it twice on my Gigabyte board and never caused a problem.

I recommend downloading ASUS EZ Update V2.00.08 for Windows 32/64bit 7 & Windows 32/64bit 8 off the website and seeing what it offers.
