Greetings,
So, my last X58 motherboard had some issues, and I received another one through RMA. Ever since I received the second one, I've had all sorts of problems, several of which are still occurring. I've never done any overclocking. I have an i7 920, 6GB of Corsair DDR3, and two EVGA GTX460 in SLI. The PSU is a Corsair 750w. I'm running Windows 7 x64.
Ever since I got the new board, I have consistently (about 1 in every 4 boots) received the following message before booting into the OS:
"Warning! CPU has been changed. Please re-enter CPU settings in the CMOS setup and remember to save before quit!"
I've glanced in the BIOS, and nothing seems to be out of whack. The date/time are correct, so I don't think CMOS has been reset (although I may be misunderstanding something). I tried replacing the CMOS battery; no success. My CPU is idling at about 63 degrees Celsius, which seems awfully high.
I've never care for messing with CPUs and heatsinks, but is that what I need to do? Think it's a problem with the heatsink?
I appreciate your thoughts. Thanks for your help! If there's any more information you need to help, I'm glad to provide it.
