BIOS not finding/recognizing PCI-Express video card

It used to work fine, but one morning the monitor wouldn't turn on (light remained yellow instead of turning green and displaying something), so I plugged it in the onboard video output, and it worked...

The BIOS option is set to disable onchip VGA if PCIe VGA is found though.
I have tried updating BIOS to the most recent version, with no gain.

In Windows, in Device manager, only the onboard video card shows up. The PCIe one doesn't show up, and when I go to Add or Remove Hardware, it doesn't "see" it.

The video card works in another computer, but that other computer's video card does the same thing in that computer. I've tried removing the motherboard from the case to try it out, with no more success.

I've tried another PSU without success ; because of all that I tried, I'm really beginning to think that the cause of the problem is the motherboard. I've cleared CMOS a couple times, tried fail-safe default settings and optimized settings as well as changing settings myself, with no success.

I think the problem would be somewhere in the motherboard chipset, or the PCI-express connector. I'm kind of at a loss since I built this machine myself and it's not even 1 year old, and it has worked fine since then. I was going to RMA the board and hope it fixes the problem.


Has anyone ever experienced a similar problem?

Have you installed the Forceware Drivers and the appropriate Chipset Drivers?

Any other possible BIOS settings related to Video?

Hi,

my attempts at rescuing the system have been concentrated on a lower-level, I haven't attempted to update chipset drivers/Forceware because I thought it would only have an effect in Windows, and not fix the pci-e card not waking up. [the drivers that were there have been working for over a month in that setup before the system started freaking out]

as for Video settings in BIOS, I saw "Primary Graphics Adapter", with choices PCI-Express or Onboard (chose PCI-E), saw "Onchip VGA" with choices "Disable Onchip VGA if PCIe VGA present" or "Enable Onchip VGA" (tried both). There was also a memory setting to determine how much memory was taken for the onboard video card ; if I set it to 0, I would have no display on the onboard video either (had to reset cmos after trying this )

I've looked around on various forums and found only two other people who had the same problem as me, without a solution in both cases, so the board is in RMA right now.
