BIOS password removal help

I recently purchased a Toshiba A65-S1070 from a friend. He sold it to me because he hadn't used it in years and had forgotten the BIOS password, so it was useless to him. I need someone to remove this password.

Because it is a BIOS password, the laptop will not boot to any device before the password is entered. The CMOS battery can not be removed, so the password can not be cleared in such a way. Also the parallel port loopback trick also does not work with this model.

The laptop will not boot to any device before the password is entered. This includes the hard drive, so it will not boot into Windows, Linux, or any other operating system or boot CD

Please help if you can.

Key Disk for Toshiba laptops

Some Toshiba notebooks allow to bypass BIOS by inserting a "key-disk" in the floppy disk drive while booting. To create a Toshiba Keydisk, take a 720Kb or 1.44Mb floppy disk, format it (if it's not formatted yet), then use a hex editor such as Hex Workshop to change the first five bytes of the second sector (the one after the boot sector) and set them to 4B 45 59 00 00 (note that the first three bytes are the ASCII for "KEY" followed by two zeroes). Once you have created the key disk put it into the notebook's drive and turn it on, then push the reset button and when asked for password, press Enter. You will be asked to Set Password again. Press Y and Enter. You'll enter the BIOS configuration where you can set a new password.

wow!! another reason why toshiba machines suck. isnt a bios pw supposed to be ultimate security?

from the sounds of it it is the ultimate security.


anywho, I had a T-42 w/ the same problem a few months back. I called IBM and was told that the only way around the problem is to replace the planar chip. to the tune of $800+ - that machine has been working very well at it's new function.. paper-weight.

Since your T-42 is working as a Paper Weight you might want to try this:

Toshiba's with Parallel Ports (like yours, OP) can use a simple parallel port dongle to cure your password issue.

I can't explain it, but if I had to guess, Toshiba designed it into the system for their own engineers. I find it hard to believe that someone would have figured it out on their own.

yeah i asked a buddy of mine to help hack this bios pw on a compaq i had found in a community college dumpster. he said it involved cutting and resodering some points on one of the boards....... i put it back in the dumpster
