Just recently bought a system to use as a server - Supermicro superserver 5033CT with a P4SCT+II mb installed, 3 ghz cpu, 1GB ECC ram, 2 SATA hard drives and a CDRW/DVD rom drive. Problem is the CD rom isn't always recognized during the BIOS/POST routine at boot time. Seems as if the BIOS keeps forgetting it. A second or even third reboot will usually cause it to snap back into shape and recognize it. Motherboard is an 875 chipset mb.
Now is this simply a power problem or possibly a bad battery for the CMOS? 350W PS currently installed.
Any ideas?
