Ive had the exact same hardware configuration for at the least 1 year. The same installation of windows, and very minimal software changes ( atleast anything that I would think cause this problem ).
The past couple of days when i would start up my computer I would get the following message:
"DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER."
I thought maybe my hard drive was going bad, and that the windows installation had become corrupt. But I don't think thats the case. In the BIOS when im receiving this problem it doesn't recognize the Hard Drive or my cd rom. Both of which are on the same IDE cable.
Normally it takes about 3-4 restarts of the computer and then it finally pushes through and loads windows without a problem. Today though.. It took me about 45minutes just to load into windows.
Things i've tried:
-Resetting CMOS.
-Using Hard drive alone, cd rom alone. neither will get recognized alone or together.
-replaced the IDE cable
-changed molex on the devices.
I think something is going bad, or atleast obviously wrong. Anyone have any suggestions?
