Do they run in linux yet where you can actually play them ? Does Crysis get any fps increase when running it in linux with the same system ? I could be just living in a dream and linux will never be a good os for a gamer. Though if your not a gamer linux is the perfect OS! I know Half Life 2 and counter strike work in linux well I heard.

Most games work with an emulator called WINE, but almost all games suffer some kind of FPS drop.

Do you think Bioshock or Crysis would work smoothly enough through WINE to be playable with a Geforce 8800 GTS ? Rest of the system is a intel dual core 2.1 Ghz , 4 GB.

Check out Cedega, they might have support for those games. It's not free like Wine, but they do have better compatibility with some games.

Well, it's most likely because they are using such a new version of DirectX. Last time I played around with Cedega they were working add DX8 support, and that was a few years ago so no telling.
Any game that IS OpenGL will have a much better time running through Wine or Cedega, but I think those are both DX10 games, something to look into though.

As I understand, the App DB is mainly about how well games are supported by pure wine. I recently learned that in a lot of cases, using the actual Windows DirectX DLLs can improve the play experience quite a lot. I've been told that with the correct mix of Windows and Wine DLLs you should be able to get exactly the same functionality as in Windows, but whether this is actually true and how to accomplish this, I don't know.
