Beat the Crow guy last night and played a little further. Game is a lot like the other Bioshock games. As much as people talk about the graphics, I don't really seem that impressed. Saw some pretty poor textures even at Ultra settings.

One thing I can't seem to nail down is the mouse control. It's really bad and I can't get good precise aim with it. Don't recall having any issues with it in previous games. It's almost like I'm using a console controller but not nearly as bad.

At first I thought maybe my graphics settings were too high so I lowered them a bit but that didn't change it. Tried adjusting mouse sensitivity and turning off/on mouse soothing but that didn't help either.

Any ideas on settings?

A bit of posts back there was a link to the bioshock infinite wiki where they have tweaks for the mouse. You need to edit a useroptions ini file and save it.

Speaking of the save system. It pisses me off the most. I wanted to show my wife a few parts of the game so I tried starting a new game, but it wanted to delete my current game...ffs this is 2013 people. Whats with the 90's style save systems.

What do you mean? The 90s were when you could just press Esc and save the game at any point. What you're complaining about is the new method. :|

I like how I'm much more inclined to explore in this one rather than the last games. Anyone know where the key to that one door goes ? It's the area before you fight the crow guy.

So bored at work now.

There's a blue chest in a house you may have passed or entered already. You have to backtrack all the way out of the building you're in and hookshot into the building.

I went in expecting to tweak it, but was able to get to feel right enough with the default sliders. Mouse accel is off, sensitivity is almost at min (not quite) and I'm on the 2nd slowest dpi on my mouse.

I played for a few hours last night. Unfortunately I managed to misunderstand that the Emulsions can be applied to any of health, shield or salt, and applied them all to health. I expect that will be recoverable but it will make boss battles harder because I burn through salt very fast.

So far I am really enjoying this, but the aesthetic of Bioshock was more to my taste, plus Bioshock had the advantage of being a totally new experience for me, so I was constantly amazed by it. This feels like a refinement of that. Still, since Bioshock is probably my favorite game of all time I don't see this as a bad thing.

I'm currently 3-4 hours into the game and really enjoying it so far. I think the environment and world is absolutely amazing and well done. The combat seems fairly solid so far, no real complaints and seems pretty similar to previous titles.

So not much more to go on at this point in time, but the visuals are really drawing me in. Hopefully NVIDIA gets a new driver out to support SLI cause I'm only using my one 670 at the moment .

I think what people mean when they praise the graphics is the aesthetics, not textures and stuff. There are games that I've played this month that are much better in many ways graphically, but Infinite is almost like looking at a piece of art. Or peeking into someone's dream. I kinda wish this was an RPG instead of a shooter, so I could just walk around and explore. I'd still have to kill the people because they are essentially Nazis, but I'd like to take my time doing it.

And this link fixed my mouse issues, as well as some other helpful tweaks.

I think its at the first hook. Just need to turnaround. I also saw someone's gameplay and they shot out the skylight and you could drop in there.

It's weird that so many people are having mouse issues. The mouselook is fine on my end; I have acceleration turned off and sensitivity turned low in the options, and it works great. That PCGamingWiki link looks helpful though... I'll definitely refer to it if I have any problems

So I finally met up with Elizabeth. I love the Disneyesque feel about her, but her constant hovering around kinda makes me feel like I shouldnt be searching every nook and cranny on the level. Its kinda interesting that people like her and didnt really like the Princess in that Prince of Persia reboot.

I think they did a good job at making her as unobtrusive as possible. Search every nook and cranny anyway. She doesn't care. I also like how she keeps giving me money.

You might be used to a higher sensitivity. And that site is great...covers most games.

Its just that I see her start to take off one way, and then she turns around to come back to me. Then I finish checking the trash can or whatever and turn kinda towards where we are supposed to go, and she takes off running towards a checkpoint and has to turn around again when I see something shiny. Reminds me of the first time you play L4D and the other players know the maps.

It is a matter of taste when it comes to the dark, and dialect atmosphere of BioShock to a more crisp early hybrid of a 20th century atmosphere. I actually feel like I'm in an episode of the Boardwalk Empire during prohibition,. I actually like Infinite more so than the original in terms of atmosphere. The splicers in BioShock scared the hell out of me, but the new cult xenophobic zealots I feel more personnel angst against.

As for the gun play and action, I was actually delightfully surprised how easy it was to target the enemy with a gun. The gun would snap onto target with the help of limited aim assist. So instead of worrying about not swinging around like a monkey, it gives you the ability to focus on cover, direction of attack, and the use of your lady friend latter in the game.

I think the AI is about as good as it can be, I mean, have you tried talking to a chatbot lately? We're still not there.

BTW, the mouse slider can be adjusted independent of the UI arrow. I just dialed my dpi down so I could manually set it, there are like 5 clicks between off and low.

I ended up with my mouse still on max dpi but the slider ingame 1 notch above the lowest sensitivity. It seems fast, but I've honestly had no issues in game yet in combat with it. Don't know yet if it'll become an issue later and I'll have to .ini tweak or not.

If you hit the little arrows, it moves the slider like 5 positions. Using the slider itself, you can get any of those 5 positions.

If you meant how can you manually change the sensitivity, the values are in the config file.

With the exception of competitive MP shooters I see no reason to ever use mouse + KB. I switched to the xbox 360 pad full-time for infinite and I don't think i'll play any game with Mouse/KB again. In any game, with the exception of MP shooters. MAYBE, i'm not sure yet. I'm tired of wasting too much time fricking around with mouse sensitivity nonstop, I just use a 360 pad which is easier to use ANYWAY and be done with it. I suggest everyone else to move on and do the same. Xbox 360 pad is the most comfortable gamepad of all time anyway....I can sit back on my recliner to play instead of sitting up straight in a chair to use a mouse/kb. Screw that mess. Xbox 360 pad for life, it's just so much more comfortable than mouse/kb and less hassle. I never want to mess with mouse sensitivity EVER again.

No f'ng way. The 360 pad is horrible. I much prefer the PS style pad, but regardless, controllers for FPS type games are just...bad. I've never had the mouse issues that so many complain about. I will agree this one needed to be set way low, but other than that..did nothing. It's just the price of using a mouse and considerably less of an issue than using a gamepad with aim assist...

Oh, okay. I probably had this same mindset in 1998 when I was playing quakeworld, it was mouse keyboard or nothing. You know what though? It isn't 1998 anymore. If you want to keep that mindset, it's cool. Gamepads don't have the limitations they used to. It's just easier to use and just as responsive as MKB. I also can't play a game in my recliner with mouse keyboard. Sorry, i'd rather not sit upright at all times while playing a game. I like being comfortable instead of being in a work-like position in a chair. Playing with the 360 pad is more comfortable (RECLINER) and ultimately more enjoyable.

Now a multiplayer competetive game, certainly mouse keyboard is the way to go most of the time. But i'll take 360 pad anyday for a single player experience, and not deal with ridiculous mouse sensitivity hassles.

Even a month ago I would have said you are crazy. However I have recently changed over to using a X360 controller due to some tendonitis issues and I am actually starting to enjoy using a gamepad these days. It takes a good couple of weeks to really learn to use it but being able to kick my feet up and relax is pretty nice. Bioshock Infinite is my first attempt at playing a FPS with a gamepad so we will see how it goes. It is nice that the game gives proper gamepad prompts when using it.
