Bioshock Infinite - Excited or Not

So how far into the game does the combat open up? A few hours in (I've been with Elizabeth for an hour or so now) and honestly things feel a little linear and stale. I feel like I'm spending most of my time combing the level for scraps in every container and less time really playing. Maybe my bad mood from work is just keeping me from enjoying it.

Bought the game today. I'll probably be playing it months from now given my extensive backlog.

Forget the backlog and jump it to the top of the list. Play it now, it's worth it.

Things are just warming up, give it another couple of hours. But keep in mind that combat is not the main point of the game.

OK, when you go to Plaza of Zeal (Gunsmith shop and Good Time Club), and have bUseBackgroundLevelStreaming=False, you cannot progress. You need to quit the game, change it back to true, and complete both areas. You can go into them, but you cannot leave to get back to the Plaza.

Yeah the whole pace of the game is just to enjoy it. Most games throw you in to combat right away. I love the pace of this one. You take in the atmosphere, scavenge what you can and move on. I'm at the workers yard now and I'm thinking about starting over. Running on ultra everything except shadows are on high and ambient occlusion on normal. Changing these don't seem to dip my fps except maybe 10-15 below 145.

Still have stuttering sometimes on new areas or scripted sections. I'm so glad this feels different than the other games. Bioshock 1 I kinda enjoyed, hated 2, but this one is just more fun for me. Take your time to enjoy it.

I played solidly for about 3-4 days. I would say 7-8 hrs taking in some story and atmosphere. It is a rail shooter type of game, so you can't venture off the beaten path too much. So you could possibly beat the game in 5-6 hours if you wanted to miss out on all the story, and dialogue.

I don't think that's entirely true. Very linear yes, but not railsy. You can backtrack to earlier parts of the game, though there are certain points in the game that once you pass them due to storyline you can't get back to them. Most of those are "optional quests".

I just defeated the crow guy with the coffin on his back, and Booker makes reference to "some type of new Vigor", I figured that would be where I would pick up the "Murder of Crows" vigor but I didn't see it anywhere. Did I miss it?

yes, it's there...you can buy it in a machine too though.

Yea a couple times I drained my salts by drinking too many booze that way.

Oh yea, what do you guys recommend upgrading? HP/Shield/Salts levels? I've been boosting Salts so I can cast more vigors.

I upgraded my salts to like 5 then upgraded my shield to 7 then put the rest into the salts and then back to sheild. I didn't bother upgrading my health any. I kept using the same pants I first found at the start of the game, the ones that reduce recharge time and increase recharge speed.
