Bioshock Infinite - Excited or Not

I just got this game today.

It looks amazing on my GTX260 sp216, but it does stutter from time to time using high quality settings. There are so many places to explore that its taking me forever to get to Elizabeth.

I have been playing for a couple hours and I am just getting to Monument Island.

You will also see it just lying around. I wouldnt worry about it, you will run into again.

I initially had more than enough money to upgrade the mind control Vigor, and now I think I have enough to upgrade either Devil's Kiss or the Raven one. I mostly use Devil's Kiss, so that might be better.... I also use the clothes that sometimes give salts on kill.

The same with the weapons. I just use Hand Cannon and Carbine, and might switch to an RPG if one is around and there is a Handyman. So now I have over $4k and nothing to spend it on.

Murder of Crows looks cool, but early on it didnt seem that effective, even after an upgrade. Devils Kiss is good. I should spend money on that in case I cant find an RPG.

Its too bad you didnt get in on those AMD codes. I didnt even want Bioshock, but man...$50 for Tomb Raider and Bioshock was probably one of the best deals I have gotten in a long time. They are going for $60, which isnt bad if you havent bought Tomb Raider yet.

Started playing this morning and the game is pretty fun. Has a similar feeling to the first time I play the original. Hopefully when I get back from my trip out of the country, I can get back into it.

Watched the trailers and looked good, read the thread and decided i probably wouldn't enjoy it too well at all. I'll wait till it's in the pathetic area of the bargain bin.
Sill havn't even started Sleeping Dogs or Max Payne 3 yet...that's how far behind i am.

Beat this last night. Wow. Took me 12 hours and I feel like I explored everywhere, but still missed some stuff. Considering playing it again without all the exploring (dumpster diving more like it) lol

Don't judge this game based on Bioshock 2, it's not the same development team. Heck, it's not even the same studio.

I thought devils kiss was not that great. Maybe I didn't try it enough, but it seemed to require too much accuracy for an AOE weapon. I really like crows though. When deployed most enemies on your screen will

1) be immobilized for a little bit
2) stop firing their weapons and
3) be more susceptible to damage.

That seems way better than a fire grenade that the AI just runs away from...

The carbine and handgun don't really seem that good. It's possible my poor accuracy prevents me from using the carbine effectively. I've been using the shotgun and machinegun.

I'm trying to figure out the best vigor combinations. So far, I don't use possession unless I have to defeat an automated turret. I hardly ever use it on the regular bad guys. Mostly I've been using Murder of Crows and then blasting everone with my guns.

For vigors I used possession and that shield one 90% of the time. Weapons I used the sniper rifle and hand cannon or heat gun when I would come across that. I just kept using possession so much because every vending machine I would come across I'd use it on that to get free money

Problem with the crows is that it just stuns, doesnt necessarily kill. Devils kiss is basically grenades, but if you aim it at them it explodes on contact and does a lot of damage. I'm not worried about the henchmen, its the specials that I am concerned with. But I should point out that I mainly play this as a shooter. I haven't even put any infusions in salts, just shield and now I'm starting on health.

Well, if you ads the recoil makes them harder to use, but there is no penalty for hip firing. I think that is intentional, considering they put vigors on right mouse button by default. Anyways, I just head shot, and its pretty much one hit kills. Hand cannon in particular is pretty sweet. I killed a handyman only using the hand cannon. If it had more ammo, its the only gun I would use.

Well, that was an interesting bug. I actually made it so the game refused to accept any keyboard or mouse input except for the Skyline controls. It was when you have to go get Shock Jockey and I wanted to get to that platform that's just sitting out there (I need the food!), but it seems like they don't want you to go there. After I jumped back to the main rail, I couldn't do anything anymore. :|

Just started playing today. This definitely was the moment where I thought "Yeah ok, getting the IPS monitor was worth it." It's gorgeous. However, it also is making a GPU upgrade seem kind of worth it, as my 580's struggle at all ultra settings.

I'm having fun so far, it does suck you in.

Even though I'm only playing at 1080p (at max settings), I can't imagine that 580 SLI would be poor at this game. The game does tend to have some nasty slowdowns though, and that can be pretty painful.

Even though I'm only playing at 1080p (at max settings), I can't imagine that 580 SLI would be poor at this game. The game does tend to have some nasty slowdowns though, and that can be pretty painful.

I think it's a V-RAM issue primarily. The high res 2560x1440 monitor demands it. If I turn DX11 off in post and set shadows to very high it seems to help, but I'd like to play it in its full glory without choppiness.

Same here within a second or two it will drop from 135 to 83 for 2-3 seconds then fine again.

You don't like the carbine? I haven't let it go since I found it due to its accuracy and decent enough damage. I've been strictly hip firing apart from some distance shots, and with the auto aim the game has the carbine is a head shot machine. I typically keep the carbine and rotate out the 2nd weapon depending on what I'm finding around. I just equipped the hand cannon and think it's awesome. Really good damage and pretty accurate.

I also started to use possession more recently after buying the upgrade that greatly reduces the amount of salt it requires. Since you can only possess one thing at a time you can't really spam it, but if you find one of the more armored guys it's pretty useful. Plus if you use it on a person they'll kill themselves when it's over, but if you use it on a turret it'll shoot as you as soon as it wears off.

Just started playing this today. Has pretty much the same charm as the previous games. Fun so far.
