That's not what I said.

Bioshock is one I actually like, just wondering why this is called Bioshock other than brand recognition whoring.

you aren't allowed to like this game, it is a best seller at amazon.

Playstyle wise it has much in common with Bioshock 1. There are also...what I would call nods to the Bioshock world. There are certain similarities in behaviors of characters as well (from what I can remember of Bioshock...its been a long time).

I didn't really care for the Bioshock games, but I'm enjoying this one. I personally love the art direction and have spent a lot of time just enjoying the scenery and hunting for items and discovering all the little nuances in the game. It has a lot of personality, but as an FPS...it might be lacking, but only 5-6 hours in so not sure.

Ill be picking this up for sure. When it comes to FPS, System Shock 2 and Deus Ex are the undisputed bests for me, so anything close to those works for me.

If I want to run around mindlessly with an M4 Ill go out to the desert with real guns...

About three hours in now.

I just have to say it: graphics are not great. I don't think it is the developers' fault but holy crap it is just absolutely time to do away with this ancient hardware. Everything just feels low res and undetailed. I don't even recall this impression with some other recent games. It is definitely colorful, but it will be remarkable to see the inevitable sequel to this on the inevitable next gen.

I was actually wondering this. Is it a deal-breaker for the console version? Like do you sort of wish you bought it on PC? The only advantage for me generally going to a 360 version of a game is I can chill on my couch while playing, and I know I can flip it for almost what I paid for it if it's a new game....

I don't own a gaming compatible PC, but if I did I'd play this on it for sure.

Details of textures are lacking. That's about all that seems to be missing on the console version. Resolution aside of course.
Actually I'm sure the console version is missing a ton other nifty visual attributes, but texture is the only thing I wanted more of.
Lighting, clouds, smoke, particle effects were astounding.

I finished the game late last night. I can't say for sure, but it seems like I spent 14 or so hours into it on medium. Sure as he'll beats CoD games.

The story, we all bought it expecting a lot, and it ends with a bang.
I normally have a stoic expressions in all sorts of situations. This time, I gasped for air. Partially from shock, partially from holding breath for a while.

Fantastic game...loved the ending. I've heard a lot about a sequel being definite, but given the ending I don't see how (or why) one would come about.

Anybody replaying on 1999 mode yet?

I am doing this on hard without aim assist (started on medium but changed it when I got to hall of heroes realizing I just wasn't having much fun). I find it generally a good level of challenge, except that the the handymen are difficult and I've yet to figure out the ideal trick. Sniper rifle at close range plus the ram vigor plus a lot of teeth gritting seems to kind of work.

Giving this a shot on 1999 mode now, though if it is brutally hard or I get bored with second play through so soon I won't finish it. Probably the hardest fight in the game for me was the first second handy man fight I think it was--the one that had the tesla coil. I found it harder than the final fight and handymen in 1999 mode may be an incredible pain in the ass.

Holy crap, what an ending. I dare say this is the pinnacle of this console generation, what a great way to end it!
1999 mode scares me. Those damn handymen without any of the tear turrets around to help out seem pretty tough. I found the volleygun and shock vigor cleaned them up pretty easily on hard, but if you don't have much room to run around and get away from them(like the earlier couple, I think?), that would be super tough to beat them with the limited ammo and salts you'd have on 1999 mode.
Have been listening to ending discussions on youtube(I can't get the Giantbomb one to work for some reason) all morning. Man that story was cra-zay!

Really enjoyed this MediaCow analysis. Very interesting, and I found the two guys had a really good explanation for all the loopholes.

just played it for about 2 hours and doubt i'll play it again. i just find it boring and not a fan of the era it takes place in. i also find the controls to be pretty poor (playing on 360). just not for me.

Liking it quite a bit. I'm on PC and there are lots of places where hitching occurs but the quality of the game makes those things not so bad.

It does get better. I honestly don't think it changed my life like some people seem to indicate it has for them, but it was a decent game.

There's a lot of games that take a bit to open up. 2 hours is hardly enough time. Heck Persona 4 takes 3-4 hours before it gets going.

sorry but if a game is 9-10 hours long and it takes more than 2-3 hours to "get going" i'd rather not play it. i just found it boring, and the control just aren't very good.
