got me excited as if it was for 360

EDIT: I played the demo btw, didnt really seem all that. Gameplay is good, and graphics were pretty good. but nothing mindblowing. Then again, I only played 10 minutes. I saw the trailer video after the demo, which showed some pretty neat stuff that you could do. So maybe one can get into it.

Cliffs: I would buy it if it were 40 bucks

Doh...I'll include that in the title, thanks.

tempted. I dunno if the X1600 in the iMac can handle it though. That and I haven't played through a PC game in... since Deus Ex.. haha. I bought Doom 3 and HL2... I think I played maybe 4 hours of Doom, and got through a couple hours of HL2 and got tired of playing. I feel like I have ADD when I play games sometimes.. ha.

Couldn't disagree more.

This may be the game of the generation, it's already rated as one of the best of all time (by reviewers, check gamerankings.com).

I'd buy it if it were $100.

Any idea what kind of DRM the retail PC version installs on one's PC? It better not be StarForce (which I doubt since 2K does not have a history of using) or Sony's SecuROM ... if it is either one of those two, I am buying from STEAM (even if it is more).

Update: Both Retail and STEAM versions have SecuROM

This will probably the be the best game since Fear FPS wise. The textures look great, its a fairly original concept and seems to be well funded. Lets just hope the PC version is optimised better than Stalker and the rest of the the 360 ports.....

Lets cross our fingers and hope their testing methodology and QC departments werent outsourced to Ubisofts.....

Read the IGN review...they rated the PC version higher and cited controls as the main reason. 9.7 and 9.8 were the scores I believe.

I'm preloading it off of Steam now. I think you could probably preload it from Steam, then enter a key you got from a retail store, and have the best of both worlds.

Looks dead right now, just clicked the link and it says "coming soon." The price is still $40, so hopefully it will still be that tomorrow when it is released.

The reviews look suspiciously too high, don't mention known problems, and the game won't have multiplayer. I tend to side with EpilepticGaming's view that it might end up failing despite the hype.

I think the demo is released today 7pm. See the PC gaming forums here. I'm picking it up for $40.

Yes, because STEAM is DRM free and all

The 360 version has some of the best graphics I've ever seen. This game is going to be loads of fun for the 360.

There is a HUGE difference between having the game tied to your Steam account and having crap like StarForce forcibly installed on your computer.

Not sure about haters but I don't get why PC people aren't totally pumped for this game.

1) it's the Spiritual Successor to System Shock 2, which PC gamers herald, yet had bad sales due to marketing. Now levine and crew get there chance to let the world see what they missed.

2) The controls have been said to be superior to the 360 version, which is always a concern these days (see Lost planet, and worse, resident Evil 4) and supposedly it runs like a dream

3) It's getting MONSTER reviews across the board. It's taking a run at Highest Rated Game of All Time from gamerankings.com.

4) The demo on the 360 lit up the internet with just how good it was. Sales on Amazon went through the roof the day after it came out. It's up to number 2 in video games on Amazon after yesterday, only beat out by the Wii console. It may be number one today.

5) it's available on Steam day and date with retail release. For those of you who want it without the retail hassle.

Indeed, I do not mind DRM if it does not interfere with my system or my game (Steam is one of the best DRM solutions, IMO). I realize that you cannot resell your games (but that is not a problem for me in that I do not sell my old games). I have yet to hear reports of the new(er) versions of steam installing rootkits (starforce), breaking DVDRWs (Starforce), creating undeleteable (by normal means) registry entries while blacklisting legitimate applications, such as Microsoft's process explorer (Sony's SecuROM), or the number of problems in Sony's SecuROM 7 "protected" titles such as F.E.A.R. and NeverWinter Nights 2.

It does seem really stupid. Not one review has rated it below 90%, and the majority have rated it at 100%. By all accounts this will be one of the greatest games ever made. It's interesting how the game's ambition has inspired reviews that themselves are at a higher level than most, invoking Ayn Rand and Dostoevsky.

I suspect that this game will, by my own personal taste, be the greatest game ever made to date (replacing the original Half-Life in that spot), and nothing I have seen, read, or experienced in playing the demo convinces me otherwise.

PC seems like a better bet than the 360, as it looks like you'll need KB+M to really enjoy it.
