Just got mine in and hooked up, what an absolute wet dream this board is for the price! My ONLY downside would just be no coaxial or Toslink outputs for sound, but thats no big deal compared to what this has built into it, and the ability to overclock the piss out of it if you want, with 2 PCi_e 16x slots, or run one card, use the adapter, and run Hybrid Crossfire off it with the onboard, and then you can have digital sound I have it hooked up to my Z5500 set and took my other HD4850 out of my bedroom pc and just been having a blast with this board. by far the best I have yet to own in the sub $100 price point and be a full ATX with onboard video with 3 connections open to you.

same price at newegg with free shipping and $!0 rebate

AH this is true, BUT, for me I have to pay tax with the egg, so it comes out to being $110. Tiger is next state over and charged me $6 to ship it so it was $106, and got it in 2 days just like I would of from the egg, plus for me to wait 6-9 months for a $10 rebate chech to save in the end really $5, wasnt worth it.

Also newegg doesnt have them in stock, so kinda hard to buy it from them in the very end anyways

All in all through, newegg has really pissed me off when I ordered a mem card off them the last time, shipped from my state, but got transfered all over the usa with UPS because they decided it had a estimated delivery of 5 days because that was the shipping I got, so they made sure it took 5 days to get to me by shipping it all over, and then back to TN and then to me, but not till AFTER then handed it off to the USPS to make final delivery of it. At which point it was 4 days to late in getting to me and missed out the reason I bought it for, from them, in hopes like most of what I bought from them, and paid extra out the butt for, would be here next day because their shipping center is a 2 hours drive from me. Needless to say, the egg has left a VERY bad taste in my mouth and will only shop there if I absolutely must have to. Gladly pay $10 more at the tiger, to get it just as fast or faster with no tax on my order.

Why is this shipping problem Neweggs fault?

Why is this shipping problem Neweggs fault?

Well maybe not their problem as a whole, but it will influence a person, me, in thinking twice before I shop there because they decided to save them some money in shipping by sending a product that was only 2 hours away al the way up to MN and back to be handed off to the usps to deliver it to me in 5 days. I would think if I was running the shipping department that it would of been better to see that I was in he same state as their warehouse was in and just put it in the usps hands right off the get go, rather then to make sure that I got what I paid for which was 3-5 day shipping they spent more to send it with the ups, then the ups spent more money in gas and man power to keep transferring my package through the system, then to just put it in the system right to me.

I find it funny because I may buy a huge package that weighs a ton, like when I bought my Z5500 set from them, and though I selected 3-5 day shipping it was here the next day. Then I buy a memory card, and it goes all over the USA, and gets to me on the 5th day, not through UPS that I paid for, buy from them (UPS) at first, then handed off to the USPS. So if they are wanting to play the bull shit that I am getting the shipping I paid for, why the hell send it to the usps at some point for that was not what I was paying for to begin with, but they decided to make sure it got to me on the 5th day, for a stick of SD memory, that started off only 2 hours from me, and took 5 days to be delivered.

If they are going to make sure and do 3-5 days as I am buying, then they need to be sure and do 3-5 days all the time, not one order it shows up under 24 hours, then next 5 days, and shows up not how I had paid to have it shipped. I base a lot of my online spending not only on price and shipping charges, but how they may get to me in terms of days in the mail. I needed that mem stick in 2 days, figured, mem stick, 2 hours away, no problem, and no it didnt come as such, and they contracted UPS to deliver it to me, and yet it got handed off to the usps, so that is their fault for having them as their delivery carrier knowing that not only does price make a sale, but how it gets to the end user does as well, and you cant have half ass when they decide or feel like shipping it service go all flaky on them, and expect their customer to return to have it happen all over again.

And its not just UPS with newegg, I just made a purchase for my friend through Monoprice, they used UPS, they send his package all the way to Canada, and had to rescheduled the delivery date for it went to the wrong country. Unfortunatly for newegg though they have had product shipped to me get messed up more then one time. I had this happen just once with mono price so they still have me as a buyer for now. But with newegg, like I mentioned, because of all the problems I have had with their shipping department and with the ups as their carrier, I really dont buy much from them anymore. Few years ago I would buy almost 90% of my new stuff through them, now its down to around 5-10%, and seems when I do have to order through them half the time the shipping gets all messed up.

Really? The only P5Q Pro's I see are for Intel processors. This would be an AMD AM2+ board.

I started out wanting a Phenom II build paired up with a Biostar mobo and ended up with a Q6700 + P5Q Pro a month later. I just don't get the feeling that AMD's competitive enough for me to go back to them yet.

Weird, the Tigerdirect info on this board is wrong. It's a 790GX, that's for sure, but it's the 64mb version, not the 128mb Sideport version. I've been trying to find out if there are any other differences between the 64 and 128 boards, but can't find much. There is a TD near me so I'm going to stop in today and see if they have the 128mb board for a decent price. Otherwise, I'll just pick it up from Newegg. But before I take the plunge, does anyone know if there are other differences between the 2 models? Would HD (1080P Blu-Ray) performance go down with 64mb vs. 128?

Sideport memory has no effect on 1080p playback. The int. video is more than sufficient.

Just want to point out that this is not an Extended ATX board, its 12" x 8.6" which is actually 1" shallower than the ATX 12" x 9.6" standard.

Ahhh, UPS Mail Innovations. Just like FedEx SmartPost. They hand off to the USPS. It saves them money because they don't have to roll a truck to your door. I guess the bean counters at UPS/FedEx and the retailers who use those particular services don't talk to their customer service who have to deal with all the complaints.

Turns out my fears weren't founded. I picked this up from TD today and sure enough, it's the 128mb version! More than happy at $107.00 out the door!

TA790GX A2+ = XXXXX
TA790GX 128 = $79.56

EDIT: A2+ model gone from site. 128 model price drop from $82.62 to $79.56

http://www.ewiz.com/query.php?...=0&s=TA790GX&x=14&y=16

Shipping is higher than TD and MC.

Newegg is using their free eggsaver shipping on small stuff like RAM and memory cards these days. They say it can take anywhere from 3-7 days. UPS ground handles it initially then hands off to USPS for delivery. It usually takes the full 7 days for me so I only use for stuff I don't need soon. I guess it really sucks when you are in the same state as their warehouse.

Nice.... perfect for my dad's build. Thanks for the Microcenter link. Funboy, as usual your enthusiasm always brings a smile to my face. Personally not a huge Tigerdirect fan myself... not sure if they still practice this or not, but back in the day when I ordered from them frequently they would always bombard me with requests to buy printer ink. I felt their operators were overly aggressive and it got to the point that I didn't want to ever talk to a live person on the phone there. Newegg has never let me down and for me I find the reviews there more helpful than most other sites.

I used to not be either back in the day, but now they have calmed WAY down. No more annoying give us your email when you close the browser page they were on. I use newegg now to get a quick customer review, or which I take with a grain of salt and comb through the bs to find a legit review based on the actual product, and not the awesomness of newegg and the product they just got and havent hooked up yet. I then go over to tiger direct and buy it for I get the product just as fast, for around the same price shiiped with no tax for me.

As for writing of the threads, Im a bit over the top, but its how I am even in real life. Didnt do it for my wife before we got married so she knew exactly what in the hell she got herself into for the rest of her life, Im not about to do it for some silly internet place to try and win some e-friends. You either like me for me, or PISS THE HELL OFF
OK well maybe not piss off, but if'n you dont like me, I really dont care, I got others who do like me for me

Now if only I could do good with the typing and getting my point accross without the makings of books and essays, I never could do that very well, I try to make my point, and it ends up being a 4 paragraph subect over it all, with me saying the same thing over and over, and that is me trying my hardest to get what I have going on inmy head to be typed on onto these little keys to get my point across which sometimes, or should I say most of the time, has people asking me what they hell is it Im trying to say, and that just leads me to having to type out even more stuff in hopes I get out what I am trying to say, to try and make some sens that some other person would just chime in and in three words says exactly what it is I was trying to say, but it took me about a hour of writng gibberish to say it. And then people take that as me trying to show them how much smarter I am over them, leading them to think I feel I better then them all, and Im really not like that, Im a nice guy, and only wish to help people.

Oh look I think I just did it again

Kudos, thanks for the heads up. I may give TD another chance then. I'm in Seattle so my Egg stuff often arrives in 2 days... so probably there is some left coast bias there. That and their operators have been helpful when I need to return something.

Enjoyed your holiday thread, btw, friend. Brevity is overrated on the internet imho
