Guys just bought this MB today because of the awesome deal newegg is running (79.99 AR):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...8353&Tpk=TZ77A

I've primarily used Asus or Gigabyte in the past. Never used a Biostar board. Hopefully they are descent. Any thoughts on the board i got or biostar boards in general?

I don't plan to OC. I'm not a gamer so i'm planning to use the HD 4000 graphics. Hopefully there able to handle my 2 - 22in dell monitors (both DVI).

More than anything i'm concerned with Stability and something greener. Planning to pair this with either a I7-3770 or a I7-3770S....haven't decided which i'm going to go with.

It didn't seem like the higher priced z77 boards offered that much more. They had LUCID UNIVERSAL MVP SUPPORT which seemed to be similar to switchable graphics in notebooks but it doesn't sounds like something i need. They offer additional USB3 + USB2 ports but whats on this board is enough for me. I definitely don't need CrossFire or SLI. Don't need onboard wifi or dual nics.

So what do you guys think?

I'm switching out from my current I7-920 @4ghz. Its not that i felt like my current system is to slow its that my esxi server that i have a core2-quad is feeling very starved with 8gb of memory i can feed it. So i am going to re purpose my current hardware for my esxi server

No OC, go with a H77

Did you read his post? He already bought the board.

OP, you did good. That board is a great price for the amount of features it comes with. I had a 4 phase Biostar TZ68A and it overclocked to 5ghz stable with a 2500k. The board you have is a 6 phase plus you are not overclocking, you should be rock solid.

HD4000 can power dual monitors no problem. I am running a C2D E8500 with dual U2410 monitors @ 1600x1200 at work. You will be fine.

I purchased this board last week, ended up being DOA.

BUT - I've had this happen with most brands of motherboards. It's just one of those things.

I should have the replacement coming tomorrow. In the past, I've had pretty good luck with Biostar boards. They usually offer a good value with the features you get, and the quality of the board for the price you pay.

I'm going to be pairing it up with an i5 2500.

Thanks for the replies. The only thing i wanted, which i'm disappointed i won't get, is thunderbolt support. The only board i seen with that support was an asus board that was over $200 and who knows how much the adapter will cost. Hopefully PCI-E 3 has enough bandwith for thunderbolt and they will come out with thunderbolt cards for PCI-E 3 since i won't be using an add-on video card.

I have a similar question as I thought biostar has a bad rep, but maybe they've improved? I need to build a rig on short notice due to the sudden death of my gf's computer. Basically I'm going to give her part of my current desktop plus spare parts to fully flesh it out. I'll take some of my old parts and buy some new parts and hopefully come up with a decent rig at the end of the day.

This is my proposed build:

Already own/bought:
GPU: 7970 w/ moderate oc
Memory: G.Skill 8GB DDR3-1600@1.5V
Drives: I already have all the SSD, HDD, and optical drives I need
PSU: 450W 80+ Gold Rosewill Capstone (or 460W Seasonic fanless 80+ Gold); they are rated up to 37A and 38A on the 12V rail and I've used them with my present setup w/o problems

To buy:
CASE: Corsair 400R (I can't reuse my Storm Sniper for reasons I don't want to get into here; plus the glowing reviews at TPU and AT make me think this is worth the extra $10 over a HAF 922)
MOBO: Biostar TZ77B (cheapest z77 mobo I could find at $80 on newegg; I would be fine with a z75 as well)
CPU: Intel i5 3570K Ivy Bridge w/ moderate oc (efficiency is a big deal to me so no sandy bridge)
CPU HSF: CM Hyper 212+ (anything more is overkill given that I don't plan on a major overclock)

Comments? If people don't like the Biostar TZ77B then what would you recommend instead? Thanks!

Biostar is a good brand, used them numerous times and never had an issue.
