I wouldn't work that for what they're paying him.
That is because you probably have more work experience than one game demo. However, if I were him, after my first commercial game mega-hit, I would march into the boss' boss' office, and demand a 100% to 250% raise, depending on how quickly the hit made it to market, and how much profit it generated.
I would assume you would at least consider working a programming job for $300K+ (with only 1 to 2 years experience). Extreme hard core ASIC designers (HDL programming) have been making that much for over a decade, but they generally have 15+ years of experience.
