I care not, bc all content will be available at the low price of $20 dollars, on Steam, at the time that it is actually worth purchasing.

If you really want to complain about something that probably is an issue in all this, then stop wasting their time with useless internet petitions and tweets that the developers will enver read.

Just.
Don't.
Buy.
it.

Certainly don't buy anything at full price, with this "DLC" shit at an extra premium. Stop letting them think that it's OK to cut out normal content and sell it separately.

see?

I'll wait until I can get Dragon Age 2 Super Ultimate Complete Edition for $25 or less on Steam.

Since the Dragon Age games dispensed with the ability to have mods, custom content, and online multiplayer I won't be purchasing them for anything more than $5. Screw Bioware for consolizing their game and for giving the big middle finger to everyone who enjoyed playing Neverwinter Nights in online multiplayer.

Holy shit... so you're telling me that Bioware had this deal going to spur some more launch profit but that it forced people to go through channels where another company didn't get some of that money? Color me fucking shocked... a company that made a decision based on getting more money.

/sarcasm

It's shit like this that drives companies further from PC gaming. They can't do ANYTHING without getting bitched at by a bunch of annoying twits who think they deserve the fucking world for free. If you want to keep getting solid PC games and not terrible ports *cough*ROCKSTAR*cough* then you should stop bitching about such stupid things. The fact they even gave an option at all to get the DLC for free is a pleasant surprise, and people have the audacity to complain that they can't get it in a particular way.

you do realize the annoying twits who cry about this shit are people who actually PAY for games

What so this whole thread is the OP crying and throwing his toys because he missed the deal?

I buy almost every major release on release day, and I don't care about this. I've never signed an online petition or tweeted my displeasure over some silly marketing decision.

I doubt I'm alone in my reluctance to act like an entitled twit when I don't get exactly what I want in the exact way that I want it.

In short, grow the fuck up OP. You're not doing pc gamers any favors.

Wait about two or three months after its release for the inevitable price reduction(s), problem solved. Just don't buy it at full price right now would be my advice.

I have lost a lot of respect for Bioware since they sold out to EA and turned KOTOR into an MMO. And I never had much respect for EA. So I am not surprized by by sleazy money-grubbing tactics by either/both of them.

The only Bioware game that I would even consider paying full price for is Mass Effect 3.

Are you referring to DA2? Cause I know for a fact that Dragon Age has plenty of mods/custom content.

I hope the reason the pre-order exclusive wasn't on Steam is because Valve refused to pay some sort of premium to EA for the rights to sell it. If so, fucking bravo Valve. If that isn't the reason, I assume it is because EA still views Steam as some sort of threat (it is) that they can compete with (they can't).

I'm actually thinking I might wait awhile on DA2 and get a GOTY/Platinum edition like others are suggesting. It certainly makes the most sense after seeing what happened with both Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age.

I'm kinda annoyed by it as well. I like to have most of my PC games on steam nowadays, and I was planning on picking up DA2. But, I'll just wait a while anyway. I have a ton of games to play, and I still have to finish DA1.

Hahahahahaha. I could quite possibly have more hours logged into NWN than anyone else on earth and this is silly. DA is not an NWN experience, it was never marketed or designed as such. It's a fantastic single player experience, and it didn't really need more than that.

You do realize that NWN is a separate franchise and that Bioware IS releasing another one this year that will presumably have an updated version of the Aurora toolset for creating custom modules?

Source? Or did you mean Obsidian?

I didn't bother to check who was deving the next NWN so I don't know, I just remember it being announced. The main point of my post is that they are separate franchises so who cares if Bioware devs for consoles. It's not like they have a monogomous marriage to the PC.

I've heard nothing about a new NWN game. I know atari is making some snack-sized D&D game, but nothing about NWN.

You know, I thoroughly enjoyed going through ME2--I only finished it last week for the first time.

But the more I think about it, the fact that some 60-70% of the game is side missions and team help missions, with maybe 4 rather short story missions (+90% of your time doing some lame mining crap if you're like me and you have to absolutely rape everything in the galaxy of all known resources), and the abrupt, completely non-resolute ending--I'm really fucking pissed at that game.

it's gorgeous, it has style and class much like Batman AA (though not as much), it did remove some of the larger annoyances of ME1 (equipment system--though the mining compromise went too far in the wrong direction; The expansive Citadel), but this game really pissed me off. It felt so incomplete. I felt scammed; and I only paid, what, $7.50 or whatever the cheapest price was during the Steam sale. maybe $10. ...eh, well, that's not too bad considering; but the thought of paying $60 for that type of content is simply mind-boggling.

Of course, a couple of those missions that "add content" and bring it up to the normal complete game status are DLC.

go fucking figure. I fucking hate these studios.

Also, no matter what I did, that cold-hearted Miranda bitch kept on ignoring me. :'(

I kinda went through 3 stages of emotions when playing ME2.

At first, I was really kinda pissed how different it was from ME1 in terms of mechanics and the loss of inventory. Over time, though, it gave way and I thought the game is flippin awesome (I still do actually). And then, after I beat the game and looked back at it, I still think it was my GOTY, but overall a disappointment when you put ME2's story next to ME1's.

I paid $60 at launch for ME2 (and then I paid ~$20 for it to get it on the PC), and I don't regret it a single bit.

Didn't people think DA for PC was better than consoles anyway?

I kind of liked the team building and loyalty missions. And I liked how it actually tied in with the main story/suicide mission as well. It wasn't just "well here go build a team and gain their loyalty even though it will have no effect on the final mission." Building up your forces was actually useful in the final mission (especially if you don't have their loyalty and the Normandy upgrades, causing some of them to die during the mission and leaving you with fewer teammates, having some cannon fodder was necessary ).

When you cut out all the loyalty missions, though, there definitely isn't much left in the game. But it's silly to look at the game like that. I certainly didn't feel cheated, the loyalty missions were pretty well done and I enjoyed the game enough to play through it a handful of times as different genders and classes, playing through some of the different outcomes for the suicide mission, etc. Definitely got my money's worth.

Oh, I really liked those missions, of course, ...it's just that they comprised some 70%+ of the actual game missions.

that is what I'm calling foul on.

Though I suppose I should try some separate options to see how things pan out differently, as that's mostly what these games are about....but I generally can't play games more than 1x anymore. :\

It's funny, because I'm normally like that. I'll play through a game once and just lose interest, or even worse lose interest in a game before I even beat it. But for some reason I really got into the Mass Effect games and actually played through them quite a few times.

the only reason that I felt like starting over immediately was b/c that wise and beautiful woman Miranda was giving me the cold shoulder the whole damn time, and that freak Jack was all over Sheppard's dong and I could never shake her off!

I'm like, wtf did I do wrong??
