BJ Penn: Unbeatable by current crop of WW fighters?

OK fight fans, forget about BJ Penn taking apart Jens Pulver for a minute.

Looking at BJ's newfound dedication to physical conditioning, should Matt Hughes and GSP be worried?

If the new BJ Penn can last 3+ rounds, I don't see anyone at WW being able to stop him.

1) abbot would never get low enough to fight BJ

2) BJ will never get high enough to fight Tank.

3) tank is a one trick pony. he goes out to knock the other guy out. BJ would just get him down and submit him.

4) it does not matter since abbot is not fighting in ufc anymore (or if he is he is not good enough for PPV etc).

he also lost to GSP. he looked very bad in both of the fights. he got tired early and just ran out of energy.

in this fight he looked great. he was in great shape. never seen him in such good shape. he looked focused etc.

if he can keep this up he will beat both GSP and Hughes.

BJ has lost to Hughes and GSP.
However, BJ was dominating both of those fights, until he ran out of gas.

Matt Hughes didn't have an answer to BJ's Jiu-Jitsu, and should be very scared of an in-shape BJ Penn.

This guy has an iron chin (never been KO'd), decent stand-up, excellent take-downs and is without equal on the ground.
He just didn't have the discipline to last 3+ rounds. A deficiency he has taken steps to address, apparently.

BJ loses when he doesn't really care. I guess when you're that good, its hard to get motivated to train.

Seems like he's got a new goal to prove he's the best, hopefully he keeps it going. If you look at the GSP fight, he was winning until he just gassed out.

Same thing when he fought Hughes, looked completely different in the second fight than the first.

so did i. i wanted jens to win.

but after seeing BJ waiting for the fight to start standing there i knew he was not going to. he looked great.

also after the first round BJ was bearly breathing. i knew it was over then.

Noone in LW or WW divisions in UFC has the skillset to put away BJ Penn. There may be some who can squeek by with a decision because of conditioning.

I think Penn at his best is really good. Unfortunately, just like Marat Safin in tennis, his best only shows up once in a while.
