"I manage a GameStop store and we just receieved our new marketing for the month of May which has huge signs that read:

NEW LOW PRICE - XBOX - $149.99
NEW LOW PRICE - PS2 - $149.99
NEW LOW PRICE - GC - $99.99

These are NOT sale signs!

The marketing had a huge sticker on it saying "DO NOT PUT OUT UNTIL AUTHORIZED BY CORPORATE", which means its not meant to be put out with the other marketing ( that goes up on May 1st ), so Im sure its being held off until the announcement at E3. "

Of course this hasn't been announced by any of the companies yet (obviously waiting until E3) but this almost 100% confirms

Hmm...if Nintendo is still running a "Get a free game..." promotion when the price drop hits (yea I know, fat chance, no way in hell) I'd be all over that.

Frys is running an awesomne deal this week with an extra controller, memory card and 3 games... am planning to jump on that now and PM later.

Now I need to find a way to return my refurb from overstock which is expected next week.

Yes, the big N will still be offering the free game. As a matter of fact, starting May 2nd, they are subbing out RE0 for Zelda:WW.

i'd say its rumor at best. usually sony/nintendo/microsoft keep a tight lid on price cuts and then spring them on the public (and the competitors), leaving the competitors to reply a few days later. i cannot bring myself to believe that all 3 companies have already decided on price cuts.

Buy one and don't open it. Worst case return it. Make sure the store has 30 return policy. Since I have all 3 consoles the deal is cold for me.

You're believing what one guy said on the internet. I'm not saying there are not honest people on the internet, but cmon this rumor has been around since Thanksgiving. Even though it has more of a chance of happening now with E3 around the corner it's still a rumor and what this person says doesn't confirm it.

Hi. Those game message boards often get correct info about price drops. That's how we know of all the great game prices and such. $150 is a great price for those 2 systems. GC too!

Of course there's going to be a price drop, don't be so skeptical. There're always price-drops, it's only a matter of when, and this one has been a long time coming.
Except that Nintendo did their price drop months ago when they started the free game offer, and Microsoft did theirs when they started the Sega GT2k2/JSRF bundle.

Now they'll just stop those promotions and drop the console prices.

Yeah I wouldn't consider this *confirmed*. Where's the proof? One guy that says he manages a GameStop and posts on IGN? Where are the scans. I'll believe it when I see it. Sure scans can be faked, but it is that much more effort. Sure it is very possible with E3 around the corner, but the proof is in the pudding.

same deal here...... i haven't bought a console game in a while.... the last two games were for PC, last console games was gateway.(3-4 months ago)

I was at EBGames, Gamestop and BestBuy today.. Gamestop had the consoles for $10 off, $190, for this weekend. EB had the Xbox for $150 but you had to buy a game for $40 and an extra controller or the DVD remote so it came out to about $200 anyway. BestBuy didn't have any specials running. Take that for what you will.

What if you buy the GC now with the free game, and do a price adjustment after the price fall. Then it would be $99 with a free game right? a good bet if they decide to end the free game offer at the $99 tag

Thats what makes me think this is false.

I've heard speculation that any xbox price drop will be tied to either a live rebate or live being included (ie: you get an xbox for $200 and a free year of live + headset)
