Well, IMHO, I would stick to a 4-stroke gas.....unless you have a very tiny yard. Just my opinion.

Far as the $139 mower, I tossed in the model into Froogle.com....

Found it for $129+20sh. Not as good, but tax kills the deal for me. (amazon=$151.23.... link below= $149)

Yeah, I know gas mower is more powerful, but the smell and maintenance are too much to tolerate for me.

Oh I think amazon do not charge tax in my state(CA), and so it is all good.

Just also realize with electric you gotta deal with an electric cord....and the cost of buying a long enough, and heavy enough guage for amperage, cord.

paid 199 plus tax for my Black Decker electric last Nov...since our yard is pretty small, 105' x 40', I could deal with having to step over the cord and not run over it versus messing with gas/oil....

when i had a yard that was 50 x 189 i used a battery powered mower....loved it....the best part was no noise....i don't know if i'd want to drag a cord around tho but i'm sure the action is similar otherwise. now that i'm on two acres i'm tooling around on a gas swilling deere....

the cord would really bother me. i have an electric edger and hate it. the gas is no real issue, and you only have to put oil in once. they run for ever w/ the original oil, damn Briggs & Stratton engines are bulletproof. JMO

I bought a manual reel mower last year and I won't go back to gas. I can cut my grass any time of the day or night and not worry about noise. No cord, no batteries, no gas -- it cuts pretty close to edges and it's cool to actually watch the grass get cut. I got this one at Home Depot and it was about the same price. The only problem is that the height adjust lever bends of shape easily -- a common problem from what I've read.

bad thing about that one is you can run over pine cones and have them shoot out the side or "blowup" inside like a gas mower (its cool haha)
