Not much info yet but could be interesting. I am assuming they will be on a new stepping.

As I discovered with the 6400+ windsor, other black editions merely mean that it is "so fast that to run at stock speeds you need a really good after market fan, so it doesnt COME with a fan"... In fact that piece of shit was unstably running (or rather, CRASHING on) 44c idle 57c load on a zalman 9500 coolder, a monster heatsink that keeps the C2D at under 35c load...

Think they will have to change the Phenom name when they fix it? Many industries that have newly introduced products that are poorly received and quickly develop bad names, when the product is fixed/improved they usually change the name to rid of the bad history.
Shame cause Phenom is a great marketing name. Don't you think?
When Shanghai comes out it would still be Phenom right? But when Bulldozer and Fusion come out (which hopefully will be winners) It would have to be a new name because it is a new core design correct?
I actually don't care much for the Phenom name brand so I won't cry if they change it.
But then again I seem to always prefer the codenames (hammer, sledgehammer, thunderbird, etc) over the final product brand names picked by the drunks in the marketing dept.
Comes from being an enthusiast I guess, my history with most these products starts with them as codenames for a year or two, then somebody up and changes the name (usually to something silly or stupid - sempron anyone?). Yawn.
And what's more, to enable you to experience the true performance of the AMD Phenom 9000 series processors, we are offering our loyal customers an early Christmas gift - the Phenom 9500, 9600 and 9600 Black Edition with clock multiplier, at a traditionally Dual-core price!
That?s right! That's right! With effect from Monday 17th December you will be able to harness Quad-Core Power at a traditionally Dual-Core price!" With effect from Monday 17th December you will be able to harness quad-core power at a traditionally dual-core price!
