Black Face Plate for Lite on CDRW ?

Umm i used to see those on the newegg.. but I can't find it anymore
anywhere else i can get black face plate for my lite on cdrw ?

Goto your autoparts store and buy a can of matte vinyl dye. Remove the bezel from the drive and remove the clear plastic drive light cover from bezel. Clean bezel with rubbing alcohol. Spray 4-5 light coats of vinyl dye on the bezel and let it dry for 10 minutes or so in between each coat. Then after the final coat let the bezel cure for a day. No sanding is needed and the runs will seep into the plastic. This will look very professional works great. gideontech.com has a guide. I once paid a premium for black bezels, but I will never again after seeing the result of vinyl dye. Its not paint it actually bonds to the plastic "dying the plastic".

i will put in a second vote for the vinyl dye. I've done three drives now and it looks great. You can't tell the drive was beige to begin with.

Just don't be like me and get in too much of a hurry. Spray a light coat, and if you do not get perfect coverage on the first coat, plan to pick it up on the second or third coat. Be patient. Don't overdo it making sure the whole thing is covered in one coat. It may be harder to screw up with vinyl dye than with 'normal' spray-paint, but I am proof positive that it can be done.

ohh im heading off to buy a matte vinyl dye then

hmm just gotta figure out how to remove the damn bezel off from my driver, it seem removeable..
but somehow i unhooked the bottom two , something is still attached too it.. but yea i will figure it out

eject the cd tray and then you can snap off the front part of the tray (if you look at the bottom of the tray you can see how to get it off)

then once the front of the tray is removed the rest of the bezel just pulls forward

what about silver? My case is silver and I got 2 beige drives...it kinda makes my case look unattractive to have them them like that...is there Vinyl die that's silver colored?

i have no idea if the store in my link above is a good place to shop or not, but it was one of the first sites that came up on a google search... all of my cans of vinyl dye were bought locally

If you want a flat or glossy black, your Walmart carries a nice can of black dye for $3.50

The problem that I have with painting bezels is what do you do with the open/close buttons or the volume button on the drive (or any other hard to paint thing on the drive)? Leave it beige or try to paint it?

once you pull off the bezel its pretty easy to also pull off the buttons and any of the clear plastic things (the ones that the light from the LEDs comes through) then just paint the bezel and the button and tray
