azoomee: read the specs. It's not unknown components.

Medion is a large german computer maker. I don't think they sell PCs in the U.S. in anywhere except Aldi, however (which means support is going to be iffy at best).

However, their components are first rate. Their PCs generally use very expensive mobos, high-quality ram and other name-brand components. Don't worry about that angle of it.

They save money by not paying credit card fees. Aldi is one of the largest retailers in the world but they make money by margins of a few percentage points only, and this is one way they save.

I asked my girlfriend about it, and she says that Aldi's in Germany usually has lines that go down the block of people waiting to buy these computers when there are deals like this. They sound like great deals, but I'd still like to see a price. She told me that they'll probably have one up for sure a week before the sale... so I'll just wait until then.

There is only one day I wake up before the Sun, and that is on black friday. I spend a few hours figuring out where to go and in what order to get the stuff I want

In your expert opinion, like how cheap do you think it will be?

I need to know this in order to decide whether or not it's worth staking out some of the ALDI's in my area as early as possible on the 29th.......

I hope no one gets too much hope up. Read the fine print about checking your limit on your debit card.....

MOST debit cards have a $3000 daily limit.....

This has been a riot...

Anyway, as for the price, I think that it is a safe bet that it will be in the $699-799 range. The 1.6 P4 computer that they offered last year at this time was $699, and the 1.8 P4 that they offered in March was $799.

Both were exceptional deals at the time, and if this follows suit and comes out as I suspect at $699, this will be another awesome deal, especially considering the P4 2.66 chip alone is $280+.

Even with the upcoming Intel price drop, you would be hard pressed to put something together at that price, and the consensus is that Medion uses high quality, industry standard components and only puts out a few models a year in HUGE quantities, which leads to the low pricing. Tech support is reputed to be excellent as well. Expect these to be scarce... probably only a few stores a state ever carry stuff like this.

OK, now somebody do some detective work and confirm the price- I know you can

Since I have never seen an Aldi?s before, do they have a special area for this kind of stuff, or is it between the meat and produce section?

I have to agree. Why post the item and not the price?

Fer christ's sake people... if you dont have anything positive to say............

sbpb, great pick up. Aldi's computers have been great deals in the past. Thanks for letting us know in advance.
I'd expect the price to be between 699 and 850, depending on Intel's price drop, and other market factors... No problem to buy on a debit card-> even get cash back

Aldi is a great store, gives a lot of underprivelaged people the chance to get food and other stuff for cheap.... Now, they can get top o' the line computers to rival the best of us....

"Dude, your gettin an Aldi"

I don't see any price on that. Also I don't have an Aldi's near me, but I gather they are a supermarket (primarily food/household goods)?. In that case..um why do they sell computers? kinda odd to me anyways.

An ALDI opend near me, I went and I was dissapointed big time. No way am I going to PAY to use a cart to buy things from a store. I they want me to shop then they better provide the tools. When I got into the store I found second and thrid rate products, noting I'd go back for. The few things I did try were poor at best. So I won't go back there and I can't imagine thier computers are any better then the rest of the stuff they stock.
