Are people that desperate for TVs?
They cost "nothing" nowadays. I can get a 40", which is what I have now, for $500. A 32" is $200 to $300? I say "nothing" because some people switch $500 iPhones every year or so. I've had my TV for 5 years now. It's going nowhere unless it breaks.
Yeah I always wondered that too. A TV tends to be something you get and keep for a long time, and they're incredibly cheap. Even in the CRT days they were WAY more expensive.
That said last year we did buy like 6 TVs at work during boxing day sales, but buying in bulk (is 6 bulk? It's bigger than an alternator) it makes it worth it.
I try to avoid buying for the sake of buying though when the sales come on. It's tempting when you see all these sales but I always ask myself if I was going to buy it anyway and if the answer is no then I don't buy it.
I also stick to online buying. Unless it's a SUPER good deal on something I was going to buy anyway, I avoid the stores. Boxing day is not so bad though, as it tends to be more Boxing Week these days as the sales last for a week or more so it's less crowded. Basically they just want to get rid of excess stock so it's first come first serve pretty much.
