Lets the lines begin. LOL

Black Friday is two weeks away but die hard bargain shoppers have already begun waiting in line outside of Best Buy in California.
Vicky Torres and Juanita Salas have been camping outside of the Best Buy in Beaumont, California since November 5 in order to be the first ones to snag Thanksgiving deals.
Torres and Salas have set up camp with chairs, sleeping bags and pillows for the Thanksgiving sale beginning Thursday November 27 at 5 p.m.

The women have said they want to get a good deal on a television this year and don't mind waiting weeks for one.
I guess their time is virtually worthless to them.

I wonder what the savings will end up being, versus the wages obtained at an 8hr/day job.

Or hell, a 3hr/day job.

Black Friday doest exist anymore.

Yeah, it's become Black Thanksgiving Afternoon... which sucks for the people who have to work it.

Still, I wouldn't mind that $200 50" Panasonic 1080p HDTV at Best Buy. I'm just not willing to wait 5 hours in line for it.

This is what I was thinking, only they're there for a lot longer than 40hrs/wk. I imagine the rate of return is extremely low.

This. And it hasn't really existed for at least five years. It's a marketing gimmick now-like Mother's Day, 1.1.1.1, etc. The era of great deals worth standing in line for are long, long gone.

always the same problem...but it's the simple explanations that never work on the people that need them the most.

Oh, just had a thought: seeing as how they have a tent, they could just set up a webcam and do a ..."show" throughout the days to earn cash. Hell, if anyone knows how easy it is to earn money (or even turn tricks) for electronics, it's ATOT readers...

For anybody who has the option to work remotely, it wouldn't even be difficult to set up a hot spot and just work while sitting there. Obviously not the most comfortable or productive but certainly doable.

Stay classy America. I beg you guys to not have people dying this black friday for once.

No. As an American I appreciate stupid people thinning themselves out of the herd. What we need is a good Black Friday bloodbath, the gene pool won't miss anyone that gets whacked sleeping outside a Walmart for a week to save $100 on an X-Box.

No one should die going to a mall to shop. Sadly this won't be the case again this year. I really feel bad for anyone that loses a loved one during a simple shopping expedition.

Of course no one should. But, it's been happening for years, and the crowds are insane. It's a known risk, if you're willing to brave it.

I love BF shopping. Mostly for the people watching, but we do find great deals on clothes and toys for my 5yr old. It's mostly for the people watching though. It's funny watching the husbands/bfs following their crazy wives/gfs around like zombies. Or when they're walking around arguing about what to get their kids. The funniest ones to watch are the idiot parents who take their kids out with them. Dragging kids out with little to no sleep to go shopping is epic to watch. Everyone's yelling and screaming at each other lol

The upswing is if Americans keep at it the way they are with pushing up the date and hour every year, pretty soon we could be waiting on an October or maybe even September pleasant night.

I remember back in 1999 my first time being aware of black friday. I got up at 5 am and picked up a cd rack at circuit city. I then went to staples next door to grab a webcam and thought I was slick. I watched the guy in front of me with a ton of item in his cart and he started submitting coupon. The total he paid was $30.
The following year I started to read about black friday and wanted to copy the guy. I did it for 5 years and after that it became more of a hassle.

Minimum wage in Cali is $9 currently. So giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming minimum wage, only working M-F, 8 hour days, they would earn $648 pre-tax income by working through the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. If they can save more than that on a TV by waiting, then one might ask "what the fuck are they doing spending money on that TV instead of more important things?" People have some pretty fucked up priorities.

Yeah, at this point its too dangerous and stressful and not really much of a bargain. Sane people should avoid it.

Buy plenty of food (or stockpile leftovers) and sit at home.
Watch a game, trim a tree, bag leaves, whatever.

Just dont go shopping.

Meh, 60hz.

That is the problem with Black Friday nowadays. It used to be the fun on Black Friday was to get items you wanted all year for a little bit cheaper. But nowadays stores like Lowes, Best Buy, Wal-Mart,etc. bring out models of products JUST FOR THIS DAY that are NOTICEABLY cheaper and built worse than the normal models. Like most BF TVs or laptops.
