That is a great price. I paid $120 for these about a year ago and have nothing negative to say about them. Great for gaming. Almost tempted to get another set at this price.

Music: Much like the previous model, the high-end frequencies were reproduced faithfully. However, the 5H v2 falls down when faced with bass. Music sounds tinny and compared to other gaming headsets, its sounds awful. The larger ear pads also don?t help this matter; they move the speaker further away from your ear. Forcing the ear pads closer to your ears brings more bass to the headset. If you?re looking to listen to music, these headphones are definitely not for you.

Gaming: Because the ear pads are so large, they hug your ears and cut out all environmental noise. This means that you really feel part of the game. However, once again the lack of bass really lets down the headset. But the headset amplifies the high-end frequencies which means that you can hear things like gunshots and footsteps better. Explosions and engine SFX sound fake as there is no bass. Personally, I don?t feel that this advantage outweighs the loss of bass.

Looks like it's only bad point. Too bad since I use mine for music as well. Already got a cheapy game headset with UT2004... So I don't need another I guess other wise this looks to be a good deal as long as the rebate comes through. Kinda hefty at 50 bucks.

got my steelsounds today!
i already owned a set of the icemats. the icemats sound far superior- especially in bass dept. however- the steelsound mic is much more convenient for us gamer types

Over the ear gets too steamy for me, rots my ears. Something indestructible for gaming does have its appeal, but I don't like the eq in the headphone.

eq in the headphones? i think u r thinking of the usb version- and it has eq in software.

ok tried these out- the high notes are truly higher- machine gun fire is definately clearer than my plantronics (audio 90-same as audio gamer) which i use mostly. bass is lower however so its a trade off. the much clearer high sounds might be valuable in match or lan situations. i have a unreal tournament2004 match tonite and will be using these

ok played w/clan tonite- the mic works great, the enhanced hi notes help with voice comms! these are definately great for gamers. plus they look cool.....

also -its the extra padding on earmuffs that make the bass weak- press them close and the bass goes up- so its a design issue not the speakers weakness so much

Just got mine today. I can confirm that the headphones really lacks some bass. But I don't care since I'm gonna use it mainly for gaming and some late night videos
