This is why you don't get married folks.

"Vanessa Bryant appears to have made a three-point shot in her divorce settlement with Kobe Bryant, reports say. Allegedly, Vanessa will receive $75 million, as well all three of the couple's properties in Newport Beach, Calif.

Sources with knowledge of the settlement tell TMZ that Vanessa will get the mansion the couple lived in, as well as the new home they had been building for the past two years. She was also reportedly granted a third property, where her mother has been living.

That is what pre-nups and not cheating are for.

Since they had no pre-nup by CA law half of anything earned while they were married was hers.

Oh Yeah... Eagle Colorado ring a bell

Pretty sure it was Vail or Aspen

Why the fuck would Kobe go to Eagle?

But seriously. Why would you not have a prenup? Half of everything I can understand, but what - he has 3 houses in LA or something that he's getting?

I would call bullshit that shes getting the new one they're building. The one your living in now, fine. The one your mom is living it, fine. The one I'm building with my man cave and shit? What bitch?

still 3 mansions + 75 mil.. bit much if you ask mee

The laws aren't written correctly. She had no part in any of "their" assets. 1 mansion and a few million dollars would be adequate.

How are these things taxed? If they're not taxed, there should be a hefty tax. You don't just win the lotto for $75m and get 75m... you get 30 something and the rest is taxes. Same should apply to high profile divorces like this.

Kobe = LA's newest homeless person. Odom can probably let him crash at his old place until Kobe can get back on his feet

It's not taxed, nor should it be. all of that money and property have already been taxed. Why would you double tax it?

As for the laws being written wrong, outside of the 32 non community property states in the US and other common law countries(former British colonies). The rest of the world would beg to differ. Most of the world views all assets gained during marriage as joint property of the married couple.

And Kobe has more than 3 mansions... Hes just losing all three in the Newport Beach, CA area.

I don't see people talking shit about how Russel Brand is set to gain ~$40million from Katy Perry in their divorce after only 18 months.

Correct, hopefully she will remember to pay the property taxes that will be owed for the years to come.

That is what the $75million is for. She also gets an undisclosed amount of spousal support and child support each month.

I wonder if she will be smart with her money. Personally I think she waited for the 10 years of marriage to go by before filing for divorce. If I remember correctly at 10 years you get to pay the wife alimony for life.

Well this was a settlement and not from a court hearing so who knows. But if they didn't say otherwise, its until remarriage, death or she is self supporting. My bet is she didn't get lifetime spousal support in the settlement. I'd say 5-10 years.
