I've not been loving this release. I was sad to find it seemed to have much worse connection issues than MW3, I was very hopeful that it'd be as solid as Blops 1 mostly was in regards to the host issues.
In Blops 1, if I became host it was a very slight advantage to me typically.
In MW3 it was always a huge disadvantage to me. I could NEVER react to anyone before they killed me and on the replays it looked like I never moved before they got off their 1st shot.
I found the same to be true for Blops 2 that being host is a disadvantage.
But even worse, when I wasn't host I still had nonstop shuddering and lag issues in game that caused me to time and time again die in a confirmation and had me to the point of giving the game up.
I started looking at my home connection. Speedtest.net always ranked me as a top rated connection but then I found pingtest.net and realized I could almost never get a "A" rating and at least a "B" rating which they themselves said could cause issues with online gaming.
Unrelated to this newly discovered issue, I snagged a Apple Time Machine refurb that was a great deal and that was delivered yesterday.
I hooked it all up and did some more pingtest and ever single time I always without fail get a "A" rating now.
I thought maybe it was a fluke, so I put back my other router and sure as shit I always without fail got a B rating.
So I played for about 2 hours last night and never came in below 3rd place and about half I was 1st place, the only exceptions were when I was host, which is still an issue regardless of how solid my connection is.
So a word of advice from my own experiences, check your connection if you're having the issues like I was. Use pingtest.net to see how you rate.
If you get a A rating every time then at least you know its the game and not you.
