black vs beige dvdrw/dvdrom

my beige colored liteon 812s/nec 3520a took about 1min10sec to do lead in. my nec 2510a took only 30sec to do lead in! black are usually more expensive, black are better!

I don't believe it. I think you just got an optical drive that is unfriendly to you. I think the blacks are more expensive because of the coloring.

DVD Playback Performance

Our next benchmark is new: it measures the DVD playback performance of the CPU's. On each machine we start an identical DVD (Lord of the Rings) and we measure how long it takes to play the entire DVD.

As you can see, the P4 is much better suited for this task. It finishes the playback a full 3 seconds faster than the poor 2970+ that really can't keep up. Where not too sure if this is a demonstration of the power Intel's SSE2, or because of the NetBurst architecture designed to accelerate multimedia performance. Another explication might be the faster tray that the AOpen DVD had on our P4 testbed compared to the LiteON DVD we used for the Barton.

When Anand do benchmark for tray speed? I tired of wasting time wait for tray to close so I kick it closed fast.

Everyone knows black cd drives are more expensive because there much cooler than the white ones. I don't know why silver isn't even more expensive than white though, since its the best color.

Some black shintz costs more because spoiled teens want to be different and own a black computer rather than the standard norm, which is beige. They believe all that "beige is boring" crap and pay a price to be different. "Look, I have a black computer, so I must be better than you!" They are just being taken advantage of.
