Black & White and my Geforce2 Pro

Hey quick question.

In the setup of the game Black & White, I can change the display type to Direct3D, or another one that doesn't say Direct3D.

Does anyone know which one will work better with my Geforce2 Pro? Does it matter what I choose?

Can't remember off hand. I don't think that it was anything specific. Maybe something like Default....

Are the choices between Direct3D and OpenGL?

If that is what you're talking about, I'm not sure which you should use to play the game, simply because I've never played the game. I know a lot of good games look great in OpenGL. Then again, so do some in Direct3D.

Well, I really don't remember the other choice as being OpenGL. I'll have to check tonight.

But out of curiosity, does the Geforce2 Pro generally excel at one more than the other (Direct3D vs. OpenGL)? Or does it vary from game to game?

It will vary from game to game. Some games are just generally better suited to one API or the other.
There is no hard and set rule saying the GF2 Pro will always perform better in a specific API.

I'm assuming the other option is likely for software rendering, in which case running under Direct3D would clearly be the better choice.

Stick with Direct3D. That game was built around it. I've got the SAME setup you do and it runs the best with Direct3D.
