It's not listed on the SERO site yet, but hopefully it will be soon. I already have SERO, so does anyone know what is the best way to go about getting one of these!?

Look for someone who is trying to drop it to get an iPhone.

the 8830 looks to be like a decent device

careful though, the keys are a close together so if you are a fat finger typist this will piss you off

edit: this also requires a blackberry plan on top of the sero regular data plan, if you are wanting to synch with work email etc

Sprint is trying to rip us for an extra $40 for a required blackberry email and data plan on top of the regular service fees. This is out of the question for me considering plam does this at no charge.

palm does not do it at no charge. Only the Sero plan has data included, a normal plan does not. And a palm will not sync to an enterprise server for push email. People buy a blackberry for email, a palm for an organizer, don't confuse them.

actually, i've got the treo 700wx and it's sync'ing, doing push email just fine with my corp.(SERO plan of course). and actually it's sync'ing better than those of my coworkers who use blackberry.

i hope treo moves to a slim design soon though. i'm getting jealous of the new BB form factors

I can assure you it does. I use it everyday. And as you stated the sero plan includes unlimited data.

I want to try the blackberry, but the additional $40 does not make it a viable option.

Does it really matter? It doesn't support domestic data frequencies and you can't get BB data on prepaid plans while abroad...

US Cellular, and most other CDMA carriers, charge $40 for Blackberry Data/Email

True. The carrier is not the issue.

The $40 charge is a Blackberry charge since all the e-mails go through their servers.

The new Treo's support MS's exchange server pushing, so it can function similarly to a Blackberry but your company's still gotta pay MS, but I guess for the end user it's cheaper (but a lot of people get Blackberry's covered by their company anyway).

There also used to be Chatter to get e-mails pushed off IMAP but I don't think it's free anymore. And also I think it kills your battery life hardcore since apparently it's not true push.

Point is, there ain't no free lunch lol.

Generally writing something similar to mail2web.com is quite easy, and it is possible to host it inside a company. In this case iPhone can be a good solution with cheap data plan. However iPhone has serious security flaw and no voice dail. So there is is no a good solution yet.
