i always see business people with blackberries, but how common is it for people to have blackberries for personal use?

i know verizon and at&t offer them... can anyone tell me how much yall pay for the service? i'm guessing it's an additional feature/charge on top of the standard monthly talking.

thnx

depends how much data you use i guess. some carriers have 'blackberry" specific kinda plans, but it's not really much different. maybe a different data rate and a email account with them.

i don't like teh blackberrieees

hmm... what are the chances that someone, be it a guy or girl, who does't use it for work will have one just to check their emails?

I see a lot of people w/ blackberry's that don't use it for work. BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) makes it so easy to setup and manage your email accounts and messages that you can't go wrong.

Yea it ranges from $30 to $45 extra on top of your regular bill.

My wife is getting a 8100 (new small one) but she is not getting the BB service. I am getting a blackjack as I did not want to pay $200 for the new 8700.

I have one not work related. Think it is $20 extra for umlimited data via tmobile.

Also works nicely when on vacation to use as a wireless modem for the lappy

get the one from verizon so that you can use the EVDO BB as a 400Kbs modem for your lappy.

I don't have a Blackberry (I really don't like their physical build, OS, etc.), but I have a Palm Treo with AT&T, EVDO service, etc. I'd be lost without it.

As others have said its 30 a month for att. I have a blackberry and its mainly for personal use but I do get emails for work on it too. If you are looking for an email device I highly recommend the blackberry, but if you want multimedia I'd say you should look elsewhere.

HSDPA....which can be faster that EVDO...

HSDPA and EVDO Rev A. are both the sh!t right now though if you are in a good area.

I use a T-Mobile Dash and I have my personal, school and gmail pushed to my phone. There's also Google Maps on the phone, which is perhaps the best thing ever on a mobile phone. I pay $5.99 monthly for data.

it really depends on your usage and speed demands etc.

with my wm5 phone and ~500kbps evdo, google maps, exchange push email (I get and have to respond to a lot of emails ) , accessing gmail and other stuff using opera and such kicks ass...

streaming m 100GB+ library to my phone @ 192kbps is nice too
