blackberry users - is it your own or your company's?

just about everyone i see in the city has one. i'm wondering how many people actually own theirs, or are they mostly company issued.

i had a curve, and then my company gave me an 8830 so i canceled my own and use theirs exclusively.
saves me $60/mo.

I was issued a company BB, but I get seed devices which are mine. Currently running a BB9000 Bold.

Buying a blackberry for personal use with pop3 accounts is kind of stupid. If you don't have a BES server running in the background a Blackberry is just a more expensive qwerty style palm pilot with phone capability.

Yep.

My BB is company issued (cell phone company). For some reason they went with BIS instead of BES.

I bought it, but the firm reimbursed the cost and pays for the service.

Why is that? You don't need a BES to get push email. You have BIS, you have BlackBerry Unite! and then you have BES. If you don't like those go data only and get the gmail app.

You can get mobile push with all your POP3 accounts and saying things like BB is a 'Palm Pilot with phone capability' suggests you haven't used one in quite some time.

you also have the desktop manager, although you'll need to leave your pc and email client on.

BIS supports IMAP IDLE, which will "push" email to your BB so you don't need BES. Even gmail and yahoo have push to BB devices through their agreement with RIM. Let me guess, you don't own a BB?

I own my BB 8330 but I get reimbursed.

Mine is company issued. I was doing just fine with my plain, old flip phone. Now I have to carry two phones around during working hours.

My cousin just bought one for himself and he's not going to tell anyone at work that he has it. He refuses to get it hooked up to their BES, he just wanted to get to his own email.

I do not own one, but I have considered it. My company doesn't use them at all, nothing but Treos here.

When did you get yours, if you don't mind me asking. Their regional HQ in NYC is one floor right above us and they come down to us every time a new model is released (we are one of AT&T's biggest customers). Except with the Bold they seem to be delaying every other week.

You should include enough poll options for people.

For example, I have a blackberry that is neither mine nor my companies, and it is also broken.

BB imap support is a joke. No server folders!

BES (which we use) is nice though.
