For those interested, its open to everyone now. I tried out some King of the Hill. Its no award winner, but I had a reasonable amount of fun. It also ran smoothly on my lower end rig and I believe the requirements are less strict than Tribes Ascend.

I've been playing it a bit and its cool (UT3 type), nice gfx too (dx11). The only thing that kinda sucks is server lag at times..

And yeah now it runs much better maxed then in beta, no more weird drops.. Ok there can be a spot or two but nothing serious. I use 69fps limiter and its capped almost all the time.

Weird that doesn't seem right but I wouldn't know how it fares on higher end systems. If there's an issue hopefully that gets addressed. I don't play deathmatch, but with competent teammates, Im still having a good amount of fun in the other modes.

Pando Media Booster. Look out, you're gonna wanna uninstall it after it finishes. That is unless you want to give away the majority of your upstream bandwidth while it silently runs in the background.

It's uncomfortable if you're used to high framerates on a 120hz monitor. The smoothness really does end up making a big difference, even if it's partially psychological (because it looks that much better with high framerates).

LoL does. It was after I installed LoL that I noticed 80% of my upstream bandwidth being used randomly by Pando and extreme lag spikes in any game I was playing. I think they did limit the amount of bandwidth it can use recently, but it is most definitely using your bandwidth to send other people game files. It's like a torrent except less visible to the user.

I was playing quick match, not dedicated servers dunno if that has anything to do with it, the game was actually good, I just couldn't play it with terrible frame rate.

60FPS in quake 2/quake3 for years, you get used to the speed and 1:1 mouse/crosshair movement, when frame rate dips it's jarring and uncomfortable and will affect your performance. Even with a high end specs I still set settings to low to maximize minimum frame rates. So a game that is unable to maintain descent frame rate is uncomfortable for me to play.

The devs have aknowledge performance issues and have plans to fix, I am not complaining too much as it's a small team, what they have accomplished is pretty amazing, I think it's better than Brink, will check it out once fixed.

Once you go 60 you never go back, believe me. Anything below 45, regardless of the genre(Except for RTS maybe), feels like absolute shit...at least for me.

Yeah occasionally I'll have lag issues too. Some games are smooth for me, but at times I'll enter a game sub 60ms and still get or lag pretty bad lag spikes but those games are fewer than my smoother ones. Up till now I've also only played on the servers for Pre-level 10 people (not sure if those are dedicated or not). I haven't encountered any bugs though.

Not sure if it matters, but I also recently formatted before installing a few games including this one.

Came across this review the other day on IGN. Downloaded it last night and played for about an hour, and it's pretty fun. I like the UT3, faced paced feel of it. It reminds me of the original UT. The server I played in did have occasional lag spikes but it was very playable. I'd recommend you dl and give this a try if you haven't already
