even the BLADE can't escape the IRS....

Movie actor Wesley Snipes was indicted Tuesday on eight counts of tax fraud accusing him of bilking $12 million from the government in false refund claims.

Snipes, 44, also failed to file tax returns for six years, according to an indictment unsealed in Tampa, Fla.

Federal prosecutors said Snipes fraudulently claimed the refunds in 1996 and 1997. It also charged him with failure to file returns between 1999 and 2004.

According to the indictment, Snipes had his taxes prepared by accountants with a history of filing false returns to reap payments for their clients. As part of the deal, the indictment alleges, the firm, American Rights Litigators, would receive 20 percent of refunds from clients.

Snipes faces a maximum of 16 years in prison.

Fools. The federal prison in Tampa is obviously being run by vampire hybrids. This is his 'in.'

I don't understand how you can have that much money and fail to file tax returns. Don't you have a lawyer/accountant that handles that stuff for you? Unless of course that lawyer/accountant wasn't doing his job...

The accountant was in on the scam.

It is possible that Snipes was unaware of this if he blindly entrusted his finances to his handlers.

According to a news release, "The indictment alleges that Snipes, Kahn, and Rosile attempted, through dishonest means, to make it appear as if Snipes had no liability for federal income taxes, when, in fact, Snipes had such tax liabilities. As part of the scheme, the defendants allegedly prepared and filed two amended federal income tax returns for Snipes, fraudulently claiming refunds of 1996 and 1997 income taxes previously paid, totaling almost $12 million. The indictment also alleges that Snipes did not file his 1999 through 2004 federal income tax returns, even though the law required him to do so."

This is not Snipes first trouble over taxes.

20% on the refund? and he doesn't know about it. Doubtful.

I'm guessing an actor worth millions doesn't file a 1040-EZ each year.

If I was Wes, I'd be on a one-way trip out of the country right now.

Well... the Cnn article says "Snipes, who had a home in Windermere, Florida, has not been arrested because authorities don't know where he is." Hmmm...

as the IRS puts a lien and levy on all assets in the US? i don't think that will work out well for him unless he starts working in bollywood to make money.

It doesn't take much to live very comfortably outside the US. If I earned millions in the movie business, the first thing I'd do is tuck some of it away in Swiss/Cayman banks.

If I was Wes, I'd be less concerned with paying back taxes and more concerned with jail time.
