I have gotten my first drive from ym first order (for 142) and it is the OEM Western Digital Caviar 120.0GB model number: WD1200JB, it has no valid WD warranty. Only a 1 year warranty from Dell. Since it's OEM it's only the drive sealed in an anit-static bag. No dell markings at all, it looks EXACTLY as a Western Digital one would. (minus the 3 year warranty).

Unless they have changed their policy, ALL Western Digital drives, OEM or not have a three year manufacturer warranty.

I ordered mine 4/14/2002 mine says "Delayed Call for latest ETA" I also wanted it shipped two day air.

No! Drives sold to Dell for inclusion in a Dell system(as these are) have NO WD warranty.

Ordered 2 of these Dell branded WD1200jb drives on 4/21 and have not yet received either one (though I do live in CA). Currently one is listed for delivery by May 1st (and has arrived in CA, though not here yet). The other has been listed as "Billing Information Received" by UPS since 2:43am on 4/22 - neither Dell or UPS has any idea where this package is...

get this.. dell wants my "consent" to continue the order for my WD or otherwise they are "required by law" to cancel my order. now ive can say ive seen it all!!! looks like theyre desperately trying to cancel some of these orders. worse part is that you cant just email them.. you have to call up and wait on hold. im on hold with them as i type.

what about the warranty if i put the hard drive into a dell system? is it still 1 year or the 3 years the system carries.

w00t! I got the email saying May 13th and when I checked a few minutes ago it still listed in production. Now it says in transit. I ordered at ~2AM CST on the 23rd.

I had ordered an actual WD branded drive a while back and it kept getting delayed out of stock. Dell called me and said that WD hasn't been able to fill their order and my order should ship by May 10th, however there is a chance it will ship by May 1. I guess figure +3 days for the rebranding? Maybe you guys will get them sooner than you expect.

UPS says mine 2 are cumming tomorrow...wooooooohooooooo....and I call to ask for the price adjustment too...so i got these two for $125 each....now i just have to see if i still got some luck in me and check if these drives qualify for 3 year warranty...fingers crossed

I got an e-mail from DELL saying that mine would ship on or before May 13, but today when I checked it said In Transit to Local Carrier. Does anybody know how long it takes to get the tracking number on the website? Is it like a day or a few days, or what? Also, anybody know how long it would take to get here, like an average time. I got the free shipping so I didn't pay for overnight. Anyway.. thanks ofr any info, you can reply or PM. Thanks.

TIP FOR THOSE NEEDING TRACKING:

It takes Dell forever to put the tracking # on their web page, so do the following:

- Call 1-800-624-9897
- Wait a sec...
- Press 4
- Press 2
- Wait a sec... listen to the pretty music...
- Press 1
- Enter Order Number, then press #
- Press 1

Have something ready to write down the tracking number, it comes fast Press 1 to repeat...
