to those who are interested in maestro:
I bought one from local compusa and bought a ipaq 3835 from best buy to do a side by side comparison. (i like to evaluate my options before i buy, people think im crazy but it works for me)
maestro - $299
ipaq 3835 - $599
after playing with both for a week now i find them to be very competetive with each other despite the large gap in price. There are things I liked about the maestro that were not present in the ipaq such as rubber grip, 2 mem slots (i used an mmc 64mb and CF 256mb for testing), and smaller size. Compared to the double priced ipaq, the screen size and brightness were a little lacking in my opinion, as was the battery life (probably 2-3 hours difference in battery life). The only other drawback i could identify with the maestro was the lack of aftermarket add-ons and the possiblilty that there will be no accessories developed for this unit due to its closeout status. after playing with each unit thoroughly i had to pick one to keep- and it wasn't an easy choice - even when the maestro was $299 ($209 is obscene). I ended up keeping the ipaq but the decision was tough, the audiovox is a nice unit. if you need or are concerned with being able to add on additional battery life or keyboard, or other aftermarket accessories, avoid the audiovox if you can (that is why i did, anyway). If you just want a really nice pda with great memory slot capabilities, get the audiovox maestro (hell - get 2 of them) they truly are sweet, and highly ergonomic.
