Hmmmmm....BVG could reduce some of the hassle...but I'll have to pay a little more in taxes.

Question, can I use this as a bridge to connect one wireless pc to my regular (5 pc) ethernet connection? I have 4 pc's into a switch then to router, then 1 pc directly into back of router (2 spaces open) then all into my DSL modem. Or do I need a basic WAP? Will the router aspect of this not allow this to work?

Hmm..is there any way to verify this? I called the rebate center and he told me they need the original...although he was a very strange individual so maybe he was just reading what the rebate said. The rebate form itself says the original only (it makes mo mention of a copy)...so they can really screw you if they want and not give the rebate, and there is nothing you can do about it...so if they allow a copy I get $30 more, but if they dont I lose $20...

well, what i've been reading on FW is that as long as you let the staples rebate people know that there's ALSO a Mfg rebate, they'll accept a copy of the UPC. It may take some phone calls tho. What you should do if you're worried, is send the copy to staples first (since Netgear's $30 rebate is valid for a while) and see if gets accepted. That way, if it doesn't & there's no convincing otherwise, you can still send your original.

You can still PM to your local CompUSA, assuming there is stock available. Sale price is good through Saturday. I used my local CUSA so CSR did not charge shipping for the PM. Usually if CUSA doesn't answer the phone, some CSRs will allow the PM. As usual with most PM, YMMV.

don't forget the $30 rebate!!! I spoke with Jonathan, a Staples rep, he said they'll accept a copy, just make sure you put a note saying that there was a MFG rebate as well!

Well, kinda... I just went to the CUSA website and it is $149 with a $20 "price break" and $30 instant rebate, making it $99... Did anyone have trouble getting Staples to honor the $99 pricematch, especially since they lowered the price to $129????

Gonna give it a shot on the phone and see what I can get either way. I'll let you guys know what I find!

Well, I retract my proir questions... I just called and ordered everything. I must have gotten lucky because the girl I got was super cool. She put me on hold for just about a minute to check on the PM and that went just fine. Then I added the coupon code for $30 and everything was great! So it went something like this:

Ordered the router (staples item# 479527)
and the ever-popular paperclips (Staples item# 472480)

then did the PM to $99 on the router
and then laid the $30 code on her!
Total came to $75.04 before the rebates, so I'll come out with the router after rebates for $25.04!!!

Not too shabby

Good luck with everyone else ordering theirs!

At first I ordered and there was an $18 charge for comps shipping, then I cancelled and ordered again. Router, 3 boxes of those stupid paperclips and I'm not at $75.00 shipped.
So $25 - cost of a stamp worst case scenario.

Just received my MR314!! Only problem is the packing slip states the model number as the unit as MR814NA, even though the unit I received and the item number match the MR314. I guess we should be able to get the Staples rebate, but the netgear rebate may not fly.

Nope... They didn't even mention that. They didn't have any in stock near me (in Georgia) so they said it would take 2 days to get to me... They did the PM stright to $99, no questions asked...

CalcMan - I called the 1-800 number, not the B&M and they did everything, no questions asked. They took the PM and the Coupon Code with no problem at all. I was almost shocked that it was all so easy! Like I said earlier, the total to my door was $75.04 before the $50 in rebates!!!

You don't even have to call them to PM with CompUSA. I just emailed Staples this afternoon around 3 EST and I got a reply said they will refund me $34.97 for 110% PM. I ordered on-line and got the router this afternoon from UPS. I paid $105.98 including tax and after $30 coupon(that's waht their email told me) or $107.78 including tax and after $30 coupon(that's what their packaging slip told me). I am confused. I don't know which is correct, email or packaging slip. Do I pay tax before coupon or after coupon?
I am sending the rebate for $50 with copy of the UPC code. If it gets through, I will send the rebate request for the $30 Netgear rebate. If all goes through, I will make $7.19 or $9.17. Either way, I will be REALLY happy.

I ordered the MR314 from Staples Monday 11/11/02 and worked perfectly. PM and $30 coupon. Came out to $76 total with tax. Then called again later and did a new order for the MA101 USB Adapter. They did a PM, but wouldnt accept any coupon because they had already PM'd. Guess it's who you talk to.

Staples called today 11/12/02 and told me the Router was on backorder and order was cancelled. I asked if she could leave it on backorder and just ship it to me when the parts are in stock. She said to try to reorder Friday =(

I tried reordering online today 11/12/2002 and couldnt even get the item to add to my cart because it is not in stock (used 94124) as zip code. Guess I'll have to get it from buy.com or wait until Friday to try again.

Edit: I did a PM to outpost.com for $102.95. First, I tried PMing to buy.com but they rejected it because buy.com didnt have it in stock.

Hmmm... Hate to hear about those @ssholes canceling your orders... Not very good cutomer relations! I should find out if I get the shaft this afternoon! I haven't gotten a phone call or e-mail from them, so hopefully all is well.

On a side note, though, has anyone managed to come up with a hot deal for a PCI or PCMCIA wireless NIC? I've been looking for a similar PM/Coupon/rebate deal that I can come up with to get a GOOD card CHEAP. Not really looking for a cheap card cheap... Please let me know if you find anything on this one!

Got the rejection call. This really sucks, because I ordered this stupid thing Sunday morning at 7:00 a.m., and people who ordered after me got theirs. Oh well, I guess I could try going to B&M and try getting them to do the same deal. I did, however, in another order get my Netgear MA401 wireless card which will come to $15 after rebates, so not everything is lost.

For those who got their order cancelled, what shows up on your invoice on the staples website? Mine shows that the product is not in stock, but it shows they shipped out my CD/RWs. But the total price shows $0.00. I called Staples, and the girl I talked to couldn't even tell me what my credit card had been charged with. She was under the impression that I would get a credit of around $26 because of the $30 off $100 coupon I used, which was applied towards my 3 CD/RWs. When I called my credit card company, they don't show anything yet from Staples. What's going on?
