I can see it now, they implement the real ID system and then offer
For the price of 15 bucks you can get an Alias!

I dun know why, but I read your username as "Fistme".

That's right, my last name is Smith. Real ID is no threat to OUR namesake. Go blame your relatives and ancestors for not procreating as successfully as us. Shout out to the Jones, Williams, and Johnsons.
- 0. It's a good day to be a Smith!
lol exactly. this is such an awesome idea. the forums will become self-regulating because you might get your ass kicked if you piss people off. you can do a lot with a name and pieces of info revealed through posts.
There was never any real advice on the forums anyway (other than "Go fuck yourself" or similar advice). What I found absurd was how many people actually frequented the forums in the first place. If it cuts down on people trolling their forums, good for them. When I played wow it was absurd how many trolls there were and getting good advice/help was next to impossible.
This may be a way to get WoW to die down a little in preparation for their next MMO?

Can't people still use a fake name? I recently made a facebook account, and apparently they don't allow aliases, but I used a fake name anyways.
Not if your name is tied to your billing info.
Lol, the wow thread is probably over 250 pages by now. The rage is priceless.
As one of the seemingly few that was against all this bnet crap when it first was announced, I lol in the direction of all the late comers.
Next feature they add is going to be a 'Locate user' button that google maps their house so you can go beat them up for corpse camping you.
Trolling or not making real info more easily available for crazy WoW players or account hijackers is an incredibly dumb move.
ripped from another forum :awe:
personally to cut down on trolling they should just let you see all the chars on someone accnt no matter who they post on. now this wouldn't stop people who use a separate accnt to troll on (some do) but it would cut out a lot of it if people couldn't stay anonymous on their single accnt
And you don't think someone who wanted to could not find you anyway ? All they need to do is follow your posts. You will eventually give away enough info in different topics to provide much more useful information than a simple name.
It's to cut down on trolling... by stopping 99% of all posting whether good or bad.
