Blizzardphiles just don't get it: there is no Blizzard anymore. Referring to it as Blizzard is so 1998. THERE IS NO BLIZZARD THERE IS ONLY ACTIVISION. So stop referring to it as Blizzard or ActivisionBlizzard because at the end of the day, Activision's CEO controls the entire company, including what used to be known as Blizzard.
Activision is a publicly traded company under a lot of pressure to produce quarterly profit and it is so abundantly clear how companies like Activision and EA turn companies like Blizzard and Bioware into shells of their former selves. Not to mention
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infinity_Ward etc. It's ambiguous as to whether Blizzard did the watermarking itself or under pressure from Activision... if you think Blizzard sold itself in a day, you are mistaken. Informal talks lead to formal talks and due diligence months or years before the deal closes.
If you think it's impossible to avoid EA/Activision then perhaps you ought to check out Kickstarter and indie games, Valve, and some other publishers and gamedevs.
