how can anyone not care anymore about the news from the company that we all grew up with?

Even if im not gonna play any of the games. Blizzard is blizzard, i've been following blizzard since a kid, the same with Valve, ID, Bioware, Croteam, EPIC, and probably a couple more.

I'd like to try Hearthstone so I'm hoping it goes into truly open beta. And I know my friends will be all over the Blizzard MOBA so I'm sure I'll end up trying it at least - if, by some wonderful magic, it plays more like Bloodline Champions than DOTA or LoL that'd be amazing. But it won't happen.

I was looking forward to the D3 expansion until they decided to remove the AH, not interested now. Not having a market is just ludicrously archaic.

Have you played PoE? It's handled just fine in that game. Honestly, using a trade chat or something similar isn't THAT BAD.

For the last year and half, people have complained on many different sites, and in many different ways, how the AH ruined diablo.

Now after all this feedback they plan on removing it prior to expansion, and now I hear complaints it is being remove?

the problem with d3 is that not even the players know what they want.

I dont want to spend countless hours in a "trade game" shouting what i have to offer like i used to do in d2. I just wanted to find an item, drop it in the AH and keep playing until someone buys it.

they should increase the chances of good drop if they are removing the AH, cause a lot of times i had to buy the next upgrade to my gear in the AH cause i couldnt get it doing runs

but also, runs are fun for a while. Im not the same player that played d2 and made mephistos and pinddleskin (or whatever he was called) non-stop for a week

but i guess the players younger than me want to do it

edit: in the end i think that the hopes were too damn high for d3, and not because the game was bad, the players were hoping too much. Thats what i think at least (i played d3 for like 700hs i think in like 4 months)

Couldn't stand PoE. And while trade chat works (I use it sparingly in FFXIV) it's basically nothing more than a more time consuming and more irregular means to the same end - if you can even find someone to deal with while reaching only X people in a channel at one time.

Plus I have a hard time seeing them finding the 'sweet spot' (if one even exists) for drop rates with no market available to balance time and reward.

I've always been of the opinion that having the AH was a huge step forward.

I guess I just get confused on how people think the system is going to be, especially with the Mystic now. I see it like this:

D3 is enhancing and increasing loot, since the AH will no longer be in play. This means you're more likely to not only find an upgrade, but one for YOU. If by chance you don't find one, or would rather buy one, then trade chat it.

You have a 500dps weapon, and you want a higher one. Global economy shows that an 800dps weapon is around 10,000,000 gold. Say you want an upgrade in trade chat (or whatever system they have in place) and get it (I'm sure plenty of people will have X-DPS weapons).

Don't like the modifiers on it? Great, take it to the Mystic and fix it.

Want to just craft your own? They're making crafting more prominent, so then just do that.

Honestly, the AH turned the game into one where you constantly see better equipment than yours and you feel really jaded about what you have. So then you go and farm gold for millions upon millions so you can buy a piece better than yours. And you feel elated until you go farm more gold for a slightly better piece again.

Now, farming is part of the game, I agree. But did anyone ever go farm in the hopes to get better equipment DROPS? Not really, as it didn't happen because you had the AH available, so there were almost never those "oh man I can't wait for my next piece of loot to drop" moments. I feel that the expansion will change that.

Says who/how do you know? Without some sort of hub there's nothing to reference except possibly crawling through old trade forum posts trying to find similar items - again, a more time consuming and more annoying means to the same end. Value without a central market is much more subjective - particularly in a game where the value of two item Xs can be highly variable because they can be modified so differently despite being the same item.

The more common an item, the less likely that's a problem. But at the same time, the more common an item is the less likely someone is going to bother keeping it around to sell it as well. One of the great things about the AH was that it was simple and fast enough to use that items of all quality made their way onto there - low level garbage to max level entry-grade to relatively elite equipment. So there was something there for almost anyone in any slot.

Whereas I don't see people "WTS level 22 wand, 15k!" because it simply isn't worth the time and the odds of you finding that person who would actually want to buy it are so low. A central market connects so many buyers and sellers that would otherwise never find each other. Maybe that won't be an issue because the loot system/alternatives will address it, but I have my doubts.

Honestly, the AH turned the game into one where you constantly see better equipment than yours and you feel really jaded about what you have. So then you go and farm gold for millions upon millions so you can buy a piece better than yours. And you feel elated until you go farm more gold for a slightly better piece again.

Not really, as it didn't happen because you had the AH available, so there were almost never those "oh man I can't wait for my next piece of loot to drop" moments. I feel that the expansion will change that.

Personally the AH gave me the freedom to just play to play because I knew that even if [when] the item I wanted didn't drop, I had recourse. I could take what I did find, turn it into gold pretty easily, and then get what I was looking for. So I was able to just enjoy playing and didn't find myself overly concerned with 'farming'.

I agree that ultimately how well it works comes down to the drop rates and alternative methods for obtaining items. But I just have a hard time seeing myself playing and feeling like I'm finding "enough" without finding "too much". Plus I think removal of the AH takes away part of the global/massive feel of the game which I think is part of the draw personally.

All I'm looking forward to is Heroes of the Storm. If anyone has the skill/capitol to take a big part of the moba scene, its Blizzard. There is plenty of lore/back story in Blizzard games to create some awesome characters for a moba.
