Lol at Everyone defending a criminal with an illegal gun.

This. Cop haters/BLM people are ridiculous. Why do they always choose the shittiest people to get upset about?

The guy was a career criminal and child rapist, who was resisting arrest and reaching for a gun. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

The man had a gun in a pocket. The police were aggressive. I cannot see the man's hands at the time of the shooting.

It's a dangerous situation anytime you confront an armed person. And if they resist? The wrong flinch might be read as reaching for the gun. A split second voluntary or involuntary motion could justify shooting a person. Such confrontations are, by their nature, deadly.

I do not want needless shootings to happen, but if police believe you are armed... they'll probably (should) proceed to detain you which may include raising your arms and turning around. Or whatever it is they'll command to reduce the risk. If you fail to comply... fail to reduce the risk... they'll have to expect the worst. I suspect this is the reason... but I want to know why they tackled him.

What can we have police do differently?

This.

If I were in such a confrontation, my first thoughts of action (If the cop had an issue with me). Would be...

1. First, mention I'm armed. That's kind of important to tell them instead of showing them.
2. Personally, I would ask if they would like for me to hand it over. If you don't have a gun to grab when a confrontation ensues, they certainly wouldn't have a defense of "He was going for his gun"

instead these people persist with confrontation. Regardless of your argument, you're going to lose against a cop. That isn't a question. Let them have their 2 second power trip and be their bitch.

You nut huggers are no better. You think that past transgressions are good enough to justify road a side death sentence by LEOs. That's what we have courts/jury/jails for. You simply assume he was reaching for his gun because you want him to have been reaching for his gun. He very may we have been. But you don't know that based on any video proof so far. So far there are two side of the story from cops and witnesses. You are even worse than what you hate. POS.

All the local newscasts lead stories tonight were about this. Every single one of them.

In regards to the second video, The cops thinking there was no video, but perhaps audio, in an effort to cover their ass, they shouted for the suspect, who was already on the ground, and now pumped full of lead to, -----
"GET ON THE GROUND!" LOL.

If you can't tell, he MOVED after they shot him. Earlier, they tazed him and he didn't go down. Dude was clearly tough. It's beyond obvious that he tried to get up when they shot him and another command of "GET IN THE GROUND!" was justified. You're only making yourself look silly when you behave this way.

This store owner?

"Authorities claim Sterling was armed, but Muflahi told NBC News on Wednesday that as far as he knew, Sterling never brandished a gun or threatened the officers in any way.

"They shot him three times already, then they shot him another three times," Muflahi said.

"I believe he was murdered," Muflahi said."

Yes, "that store owner." The store owner was his friend for years. "Brandished" can mean different things in different contexts. There is no question that he had a gun and that the police were called by someone claiming that he threatened them with it, so what is your point?

$200,000 raised for his kids to have a scholarship fund. This money was raised in 9 hours. Awesome!! While everyone is on the internet making "dindu nothin" memes and talking shit about his family, someone stepped up and made sure that they atleast would have a chance to go to school and be taken care of by their mom.

Still can't see the right hand. Left one is clearly secured and partner should have had control of the other one. Also... partner is lucky he wasn't shot, too, when he rolled over on the dead guys chest. Heard, "I can't breathe no more" then a few seconds later he's got a gun from the partner who if he wasn't securing his right arm may have been searching him. Officer that shot him seems upset he did it. Can't pause that video to see what the partner removed and he did it pretty quick. Most likely the gun in question.

Sounds great. Hopefully, his kids will choose the right path.

No, resisting arrest with a deadly weapon in your pocket justifies a death sentence.

Him being a career criminal and pedophile just makes it even more ridiculous that people are defending him.

That's what we have courts/jury/jails for.

Agreed, which is why you shouldn't resist arrest with a gun in your pocket if you are truly innocent.

The "people" like BeeBoop, CZroe and others simply can't. They don't view cops executing a black person as a bug, its a feature in society.

Hey, idiot:
*I* would have been shot if *I* did the same thing. This has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE. Stop trying to make it about race. Yet again, you're SHAMEFULLY jumping to conclusions and demonizing anyone who actually sits back and waits for facts. You're like this genius on Facebook:

Sure, they "shoot a man with no gun."

Of course, after that is pointed out to him, he deletes his post and posts this:

Sure, he was "on his belly."

You can't convince someone like that. They've made up their mind. You are one of THOSE people. Aren't you at least a little ashamed to have taken the wrong side before the details were out, yet again? I couldn't imagine being that ignorant.

A tend to agree with you on this, being black doesn't help the situation but I think that cop would have killed a black, white, yellow, or green guy... That doesn't mean that some posting here let the race of the perp fuel their fires...

A fool and their money are soon parted. Can't wait for the story where the GoFundMe funds disappears magically.

The problem with the videos is you can't see what is going on beyond the officers / car bumper. Because of the way he fell, and the position of the car's bumper, it would be difficult for the officers to restrain his right hand/arm and stop him from drawing from his pocket. They couldn't simply lay on the arm or distance his hand from his body. The officer that is positioned at the top of his body is in a poor position to stop him from drawing. The officer that is positioned on his lower body is trying to control his right arm.

Bottom line - it's probably not a good idea to struggle with cops regardless of if you think you are guilty or not. This could have gone down a completely different way. Definitely not a good idea to struggle with cops 10 minutes after you threatened someone with a gun in the same location. Probably not a great idea to go for your pocket either.

Black or white... perp was armed and acted like a dumbass... cops did what I would have expected them to do in this situation.

Show us in either video where the "perp" acted like a "dumbass". Show us where he was violently struggling, resisting, and trying to pull a gun. Show us his long history of violent felonies. Prove to us that a man with a family had a death wish, or had mental issues. Prove to us that he indeed threatened someone earlier. Most felons in possession do not brandish, or threaten, they don't want the added heat, they either cap you or don't. I have trouble believing that this man would have risked, or thrown away his long time, and secured selling/making a living arena.

Changing gears after you realized you backed the wrong horse? OK. Their lives are certainly improved by that.

You know what else would have been good for those kids? A father who's not a criminal with an illegal gun who stupidly fights with police. I genuinely feel bad for those poor kids and I'm glad they are being taken care of. Ironically, they may end up better off. Let's not pretend that his criminal lifestyle was not harmful for them.

"Sitting?" No. Doing everything Alton did with the same background? Absolutely yes.

If you think otherwise: Get real. Even without the criminal record, get a gun and go re-enact it and have your friends call in an "anonymous" complaint about you threatening them with a gun. Fight with the cops even after they tackle you and know you have a gun. Let's see how that goes for you.

Why on Earth do you think they wouldn't shoot you? You've got to be BONKERS to think they wouldn't.
