A suspect who died after a standoff with Dallas police said he wanted to kill white people -- especially white officers -- and that he was upset about "the recent police shootings," and that he acted alone, Dallas Police Chief David Brown told reporters Friday.
The suspect eventually was killed by a bomb that authorities detonated, Brown said.
"We saw no other option but to use our bomb robot and place a device on its extension for it to detonate where the suspect was," Brown said. "Other options would have exposed our officers to grave danger. The suspect is deceased as a result of detonating the bomb."

glad the POS is dead.

Don't see why terrorists would target police as they usually just want as big a death count as possible, but I guess we can't rule it out.

I'll say this, whenever there is a terrorist attack, people say Muslims should call out and stop their own extremists because otherwise they are just enabling them. Well the same should be true for cops, then. Start calling out your "bad apples." Police unions keep protecting the thugs in blue and incidents like this will happen more often.

As someone said, this is why we have the 2A, right? So we can fight back against government tyranny? I bet the shooters feel they were fighting government tyranny. If you are going to go vigilante though, you should at least try to target people that have committed actual offenses. The officers killed and hurt were probably good people.

If this were the shooters intent. Then I dont believe where the cops reside has anything to do with it. Any cop is viewed as an agent of an oppressive govt. And are thus fair targets in their mind.

Just FYI it's considered bad form to call out a mod when they are posting as a member.

Then he shouldn't have it under his screen name that he is a mod.

Blacks are 5x deadlier than white people. How about we educate police on this, ok?

We should stop crying on TV and stuff then when somebody gets killed and just fight back. Everyone thinks we are dangerous anyway. If cops are going to approach us with their hands on their weapons be default, we should do the same. Everyone was cool with the 2A and whatnot until they see what its like when people want to fight the government with guns.

This clash between the sniper (or whoever) and the Police was inevitable. This pot has been boiling over for a while now. Some people are no longer interested in being peaceful, shedding tears, or grieving. Now some people are angry....and well....this happened.

Five police officers were killed and seven others were injured in the ambush in Dallas that began Thursday night, officials have said, in the deadliest single incident for U.S. law enforcement since September 11, 2001. Two civilians also were injured in the shootings, the office of Dallas' mayor has said.

Most of the injured Dallas police officers have been released from a hospital, Brown told reporters. The officers' conditions are improving, Brown said.

"All I know is that this must stop -- this divisiveness between our police and our citizens," Brown said. "We don't feel much support most days. Let's not make today most days. Please, we need your support to be able to protect you from men like these, who carried out this tragic, tragic event."
Brown said an investigation into the ambush continues.

"I'm not going to be satisfied until we've turned over every stone. We've got some level that this one suspect did do some of the shooting. But we're not satisfied that we've exhausted every lead," he said. "So if there's someone out there who's associated with this, we will find you, we will prosecute you, and we will bring you to justice."

When was the last time the Dallas PD was even involved in a questionable shooting? Nothing comes to mind over the last few years. It's a great disservice to lump all police together when they are all run differently.

Said while actively and violently fighting against a collective that was following that principle.

He said that before Fort Sumpter. I originally thought that the statement made him a tremendous hypocrite, but then someone pointed out "having the power."

What happened is horrible, but Dallas County has a long history of literally manufacturing evidence to convict blacks. There are some really deep feelings in the community, some rightly earned.

I MUST bring Donald Trump into this because Trump adds to this atmosphere of hate.
And this week, today, we have the black community and law enforcement both as victims.
Just imagine the intensity for hate if Donald Trump were allowed to be president.
The formula is simple.
Just add into this mix the hispanic community and the Muslim community.
Probably not involving law enforcement so much, but the lone wolf of hate.
I expect the Dallas shootings were planned by the lone wolf(s) of hate targeting law enforcement.
If Donald Trump were president, with his twisted insane viewpoint of the world, and his encouragement for hate, we would see an great increase of the lone wolf targeting hispanics assuming all were illegal, and targeting anyone appearing as Muslim because the lone wolf would assume they were radical Islamic terrorist.

I can not imagine the hate that would erupt if someone as Donald Trump were president.
And while the reactions and leadership from president Obama after such tragedies can appear a bit lacking, too scripted, a president Donald Trump as leader would not even feel the need to try.
All a president Donald Trump would do is to add to the confusion, further the hate and further the division one against another.

Trump may be fun and funny and interesting and amusing and cakrasimatic as an individual, however running a country is an entirely different matter. And never a game.
A leader must have his or her feet firmly planted on the ground and capable as a leader.
Otherwise, the result would be utter national chaos.
Under someone as Donald Trump, tragedy as this could easily become a weekly occurrence.
And the nation at war with itself. Race against race. Neighbor against neighbor. Religion against religion.
And law enforcement caught in the middle.

What has happened in the last week has been extremely ugly for America.
And under the wrong leadership, the ugliness could and would become much worse.
And Donald Trump would no longer seem that fun nor funny.
.
.
.

And I must add Trump hasn't spoken about this. Let's hold judgement until he does.

The Regressive Left and identity politics. This one is solidly on Obama, Cummings, and Gov Dayton.

I am an equal opportunity hater. Gov Dayton has these cop's blood on his hands too. Rather than letting the investigations go, he decided to jump in like an asshole.

I kind of wonder if you've figured out yet that Dayton in Minnesota, but Dallas is not, and if you can see how stupid this looks to anyone that knows the difference.

Why is it that every time something happens in America, people rush to try and lay blame at the feet of their political opponents? Every time something like this happens it's this or that politicians fault?

Because the nation is divided and the only thing that matters is scoring points for your team and denying points to the other team. Ignoring, of course, that both teams treat their own supporters like mushrooms.

Horrible week for these issues. Extremists on either side of the issue have stolen the narrative. I hope this doesn't regress the progress people have made and the awareness to these issues. These shootings do nothing but harm legitimate social progress.

I understand the frustration, but escalation is not the answer. All that will do is cause a whole bunch more black men to be shot down.

One of the folks who were shot last night was a black female but she was not a cop by an innocent civilian bystander.

Not much information is provided about the shooter(s). Stay tuned.

The causality count as of 7 a.m. Central time.

4 — Dallas police officers deceased
1 — DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) police officer deceased
7 — Dallas police officers wounded
2 — Civilian wounded
