I guess you are equating the US to a 2nd or 3rd world shit hole.

Let's look at the modern 1st world countries shall we? How are their murder rates? How often do cops in those countries kill civilians? How often do civilians kill cops?

This bullshit that happens in the US regarding police and civilians is fairly contained to the US when it comes to the first world countries.

Ok, let compare 1st world countries.

How about France? Guns are restrictive yet no peace from guns.

How about Belgium? Same.

Yes, let ban guns => peace per some of you.

Funny how Swiss does not have restriction on guns as the neighbors yet they don't have gun problems as them.

Catching up with the thread again, slept like shit last night. So there was only one shooter (this Micah Johnson guy?) Whatever happened with "snipers from an elevated position" or "well-planned, coordinated attack?"

Either way, I'd still classify this guy as a terrorist, and this incident boils down to another 'Madman with an overpowered gun targeting innocent people based on wack ideology' situation. He just set the BLM movement back all the way to Baltimore, though I think he probably has a lot more in common with the Charleston church shooter other than skin color.

The problem with BLM is that it's so nebulous--no leadership, no accountability, not sure how they can respond publicly to this tragedy with one voice. I shared my experience with one rally where I live, but I understand that can be very different from community to community. For one town, BLM could be black students or black moms who've lost kids to violence...in another community, BLM could be Bloods and Crips.

God, you're a blathering idiot.

I've had him on ignore for probably two years now. He adds zero value to discussion and loves to hurl insults...

Mods don't do shit about him. It is pretty much his M.O. on every internet forum he trolls.

Your first link reads like a nutter site. But if this is one of your go to sites it would help explain some of your posting here.

It also presents no evidence whatsoever that Castille was a crip. The evidence is a series of photos showing him standing there being black. I see no gang tats. No drugs, guns, anything. It's total bullshit and it's obviously an overtly racist site. Even the typical conservative websites like Breitbart aren't picking this up. It's only on this and one or two other obvious nutter sites which are also linking to this one site.

It's pretty clear where LK gets most of the nonsense he spews on P&N.

So what are you arguing exactly?

That america has the same corruption as brazil and mexico?

You fucking kookoo.

Only if your reading skill is as strong as your quick knee jerk reaction of "let ban guns so we can have peace".

You mentioned Australia and I just told you why gun ban work there/the true cause(s) of gun violence.

And I also provided cases about 1st world countries that ban guns but still no peace.

So... just another hateful nut case with a gun, right?

Seems to be a universal right in this country given that they come in all different colors & ideological flavors.

France is just barely hanging onto their 1W status. Seen Marseille lately? Makes Dearbornistan look like the Yukon.

The root causes of crime are lack of education and lack of employment.
And few presidents have done much work to solve these problems.

So let's see...

Affirmative Action
Minority-only scholarships
Minority-only government contracts
The UNCF
The NAACP
Section 8\HUD
Civil\Voting Rights
SNAP\TANF expansion

Yeah... we haven't done anything for them.

Lets ask Australia, shall we?

How about Britain, where you now have to be 18 years old to buy a plastic knife. Or Jamaica, or Ireland.

For reference, in 1988 the UK passed laws banning semi-auto rifles.

In 1997 they banned handguns with a few exceptions (like muzzle-loaders).

In 2006 they started banning air guns and limiting knife purchases.

For context, in last decade homicide rates have fallen in all western countries including the US. 2nd graph for comparison.

Britain - looks to me like their homicide rate in 2010 was about what it was when the first gun ban was put into effect, and their rate has fallen about the same as the USA which has few gun restrictions :

Ireland and Jamaica, doesn't look like gun bans did squat :

United States : lots of guns, homicide rate falling anyway

Edit : Really the conclusion here is quite clear. Homicide rates have more to do with economics than gun control. When the economy tanks, people start killing each other. When it booms, they stop.

Those things are illegal. Imagine what 80 years of illegal guns would do to our violence levels.

It's not illegal to own select fire weapons, and the amount of damage a single person could do with a rocket launcher pales in comparison to what individuals have done in the US without rocket launchers.

Good then that you agree that the second amendment should open all law abiding citizens to all weapons without limitation. I wouldn't be opposed to the American public securing a few nuclear devices either since that would be checkmate for any potential tyrannical government. As we've seen throughout history simply the possession of such a device can avoid much unneeded bloodshed.

I'd be happy to discuss that in another thread. I will say that the nuclear alarmists have been wrong every_single_time and that disparities in regional power have historically led to friction, combat, and bloodshed. This thread simply is not the correct venue for the discussion that you seem desperate to have.

In how far are "non-lethal means" important when you deal with a shooter where you know he already killed 5?

I am no expert by any means, but the main goal sure was to "take out" that guy, no matter how, and in the fastest and most effective way possible. Killing him with a bomb at first sounded "odd" to me too, but at second glance not so much.

I don't care if he killed 500. He was entitled to a trial and as far as I can tell in no position to kill anyone when "talks broke down" and the police caused him to explode.
