Its pretty shitty. It does highlight the need to nationalize police so they all go through the same training standards and are held to the same ideals.
We don't need to nationalize police to have consistent minimum standards. The federal government has enough on its plate screwing up countless other things.

I want to make a comment/question about guns to those that believe in gun control.

Guns have been with us since the creation of the US over 200 years ago. AR15s and semi-auto rifles have been on sale to the public since the 60s/70s.

If guns and those "evil black assault" long guns are the problems as some of you claim, then why we did not have much mass shootings and killings until recently?

Hummmm...
Because violence wasn't as glorified in the media as it is now? Perhaps we've become desensitized. Also, fewer idiots were convinced the guvmint was gonna take their guns...fewer people rushing out to by guns after a shooting, fewer people worshipping their guns? If guns are just tools, we should pay them no more attention than the hammer in our toolbox.

I think the fed does a pretty good job in a lot of areas. Whats your solution to the problem?

hahaha! Prejudice baby. It's okay when you use it on the right type of people.

Think about the why. How does it make you feel that people look down upon you because of your accent, education and your layers of white nasty fat?

Tell you what. I'll tell you what I think about that when you tell me what you mean by "acting white."

Maybe not nationalized, but probably needs to be pulled to a level or two higher than it is. I think Subsidiarity issues come into play.

I live and St. Louis County and we have 90 or municipalities and 60 or so police departments, plus a St. Louis County Police force. And in my experience there is a great difference in quality. Where I am currently sitting, had it's police department disbanded a few years back. I actually don't know at the moment what police department would respond to my 911 call. On my 20 minute drive home from work, I drive through at least 15 municipalities and have no clue who is responsible for what.

I did look. It's a long link and I don't think it's fair for you to use a term and then divert when someone asks you for clarification on it. Seems to me that anyone who argues in good faith should be willing to offer explanations for their terms in real time, not just link someone to something else that they then have to waste their time poring over.

All we need are a few good ol boys who know how to think with their gut.

I think they do an acceptable job in a number of areas.

I think that departments should be prompted for actions they take to promote good outcomes, I think that all of the responses should be made public and an appropriate federal body should do a cost: benefit analysis and recommend a progression of interventions starting from a minimum acceptable standard. This analysis and the recommendations should also be made public. Precincts that are unacceptably poor in the complaints department should be remediated by a team of administrators from successful precincts with similar working conditions.

The cross pollination idea anther user suggested is also good.

All of these things could be done more cheaply and more gently than federalizing local and state police which would add an additional layer of abstraction particularly if the LEOs in question are already seen as occupiers.

I agree. It looks like they were indicted and it doesn't seem like most of these situations involve 6yos.

I think we can make it more broad.

it's not about the kid, although that is a travesty of failures.

it's about shooting the dad.

they weren't (i fucking hope) trying to kill the child.

besides, cops are only supposed to kill people when they are threatened.

does the court system not work anymore?

The officer who killed Philando Castile has been identified as Jeronimo Yanez, don't know why the hell he would kill a person who followed the order? Especially the person honestly revealed that he carried a concealed gun? If a bad guy wants to kill a cop, he absolutely will not tell that he has a gun.

Dallas officers unnecessarily died from this & other events around the country.

Or in the defense of others.

I don't think it works well in many cases. I think sentences are skewed in the case of non-recivist nonviolent offenders. We jail too many of the wrong people and that impacts a person's outlooks and their opportunities.

In the case of raids on the wrong house, the person with signature authority should be in danger of firing when it goes pear shaped. If they wield the power to have my door knocked down then they also bear the responsibility of making sure they get the right door.

The conversation is over many posts. Either read it or don't. Nobody cares.

You post a vague near meaningless post, you get asked to clarify what you actually meant, and then you post a link to a large thread and say, I don't know what I meant, but go read that thread wasting your time and maybe you'll figure myself out.

Maybe after your workout you'll have some more oxygenated brain, you can unf*ck yourself? Probably not but we'll see I guess...
