They could have replaced that bomb with some type of tranquilizer gas instead. Had just thought of that earlier while watching the Dallas PD Chief say they did not know of any other options that would not have exposed their officers to greater danger.

Great. I'm pleased to see we both agree that there was no intention of using a bomb-equipped drone to do anything about the bomb and it was entirely used to kill the shooter.

My entire point was that stating the bomb-equipped drone was there for the bomb is deceptive. Maybe it was equipped to disarm a bomb without blowing it up, maybe it wasn't - all that really matters in the end is the result of the decisions made by the operators, and in this case there are a lot of questions that need to be answered.

I'm confused.
The way I heard it sounded like the shooter was claiming he placed bombs near him so the police detonated them. I'm not a bomb removal expert but I can imagine deploying a water cannon or a bomb diffusing drone next to a heavily armed guy trying to prevent that would be impractical. Maybe I'm wrong. We'll have to wait for more info.

How many times have we had this happen now where we take shitty eyewitness reports that have an obvious slant and utterly dismiss counter evidence? And no, it is not my fault if the Dallas PD does not have tranquilizers or sedative gas in their arsenal. It might not be the most essential item to have in their arsenal, but it is one less option available to them, especially since he did not have any hostages around him that could have been detrimentally affected by attempts to knock out the shooter with sedative gas.
