I don't know about you, but paying $25 for a DVD just kills me, even if it comes with 'free' ones that make the total cost <$8 per movie. That and it pisses me off to see the 'made for columbia house' on the bar code. I think there are other non-retail markings too. The man is watching.

Or the mods can ban you for advocating piracy, that's usually pretty entertaining.

Tell you what, when I have as much money as the movie industry giants, I'll buy all the movies I like. Until then, I'm sticking within my budget. Suport them, c'mon man, they get enough in the box office.

Because movie making is a business, like any other. A business is not worth having if you aren't going to make money, and just because a business is making money doesn't give you any right or reason to steal from them. Enough said. Don't try and justify you being a thief by the profitabilty of a company, that's ridiculous.

You know what's ridiculous, charging 20+ dollars for a DVD that costs less than a buck. You tell me another industy that has that kind of mark-up. There isn't. Why? Because of the way the movie industry is set-up...Trust me, they are ripping you off because they can, and since you have no problem with it, simply continue to get ripped off.

You must be a liberal democrat.

Economic laws dictate that sellers price their product accordingly to what the demand will pay for it for maximum profits.

If you think you're getting ripped off, blame the public. THEY are the ones buying $20 DVDs. If they all stopped, then the price would drop to whatever the public accepts as reasonable.

So, stop blaming people who are trying to make a living...chances are, the company you work for is doing the same exact thing, and thus are able to have money to employ you. Otherwise, your butt would be out on the street begging for money from people who are working hard for theirs.

While the actually disc may cost less than a dollar there other costs than manufacturing. You have production costs, studio costs, advertising, etc..........

If you have ever bought a soda, you are a hypocrite. Soda costs roughly 10 cents to make, yet it sells for a $1. Talk about mark-up. Don't believe me? Who here remembers 10 years ago, being able to get a 20 ounce bottle in a vending machine for 75 cents, cans for 40 cents? Hmm....
It's even bigger with restaurants. It costs them about 5 cents for a soda and they charge about $1.20 for it. Hah.

But as the guy above me said, that's the cost of the MATERIALS ONLY. Sure, the disc and case costs a buck. Do you film the movie yourself? Do you act in the movie by yourself? Did you write, direct produce and add the music to the movie yourself? Stop whining.

the fact that u cringe at paying $25 even though they average out to <$8 makes no sense to me. also, what's the problem with the bar code saying made for columbia house? i've never seen that
