Blockbuster Game Freedom Pass $19.99

Blockbuster is currently running a program called "Game Freedom Pass". You purchase the pass for $19.99 plus tax. The pass allows you to unlimited game rentals for a month. The pass only allows one game out at a time, for as long as you want, or exchange it as often as you want. You have to have current membership and a current credit card number on file. Not a bad deal if you rent games at $5 or $6 for a few days.

THis is not really a good deal, last year it was 2 games for the same price..that was a good deal plus you also got a free movie and not a rental but a free movie LOTR if im not mistaken, so i would say this is not that great

Comparing it to what you got last year isn't really that fair. If it's not a good deal, then show us a deal that is better -- that can be had NOW.

Yea, I'd say it's both better and worse keeping in mind that when they did it last summer (at least where i live) you couldn't find any games after a while because of the two games at a time thing...so only having one out at a time may be a better thing.

Only if you go through games like crazy and are dedicated to it would someone even consider this.

Game rentals are like $4.95 ~ $5.00 for 7 days. If kept the whole 7 days you get 4 games a month (28 days) for $20 straight up.

I suppose it may interest a few though that want to try out as many games as they can to see if they wish to purchase any of them.

not really hot, considering that here its 5$ for a week rental, seems like an equal deal, you just cant exchange them as often...

will this be every month now? Last summer it had an end date. Which is when I try to buy it just before freedom pass ends then invoke my 30 days from date of purchase.

Plus seems alot more titles come out near end of summer. Hmm guess I'll have to go to the store to find if there's a date where the promotion ends.

Well as a comparison you can do red octane at $18.95 a month and have 2 games at once. Their instocks have gotten better but with this deal at blockbuster last year it was hard to find a titles as well.

Ya, especially cause most Blockbusters don't even have that great selection of games. I currently use gamefly.com. It's $20 a month and everything is always in stock.. PLUS I get the games within 2 days of inserting the return ones in the mail. LOL! I'm really happy w/ their service.

Alright here are a few more reasons this is not a hot deal and one reason it IS kinda a hot deal

1. You cannot pay with cash check or debit

2. you can only use a credit card

3. Once you sign up you will be continually billed for it each month until you go in and cancel your account



Alright, now for the reason why it IS a good deal. If lots of people take advantage of this "deal" then they are always out of games which means you can complain to the clerk and they will give you a voucher for a free game rental part of their guarunteed in stock policy

Is this limited to a single blockbuster location? For example, if I buy the game pass at the closest Blockbuster, but they dont have what I want, can I go to the next closest Blockbuster and try there? The blockbuster by my house has a pretty crap selection of games, but once in awhile they get in good stuff. There is another blockbuster about 10 minutes away that gets tons of stuff, but I dont want to be forced to always go there.

no the policy isnt only for movies, however it is only good for NEW games

here's what blockbuster says 'Until further notice, your Freedom Pass and Freedom Pass Rentals are only valid at the participating BLOCKBUSTER store where you purchased your Freedom Pass membership."
